The manifestation of irritability (Fan, 烦) in seasonal warm diseases (Shiqi Bing, 时气病) is caused by a deficiency of Yin Qi (Yin Qi, 阴气) and an excess of Yang Qi (Yang Qi, 阳qi). Consequently, the body becomes hot and irritable. If the pathogenic toxic factors (Duwa, 毒瓦) reside in the Heart (Xin, 心), it causes chest oppression and a desire to vomit. If there are dry accumulations in the Stomach (Wei, 胃) leading to irritability, symptoms may include delirious speech (Chanyu, 谵语), pain surrounding the umbilicus, and abdominal fullness. All these conditions require careful examination of the syndrome patterns (Zhenghou, 证候) for treatment.
