The Liver opens into the eyes. When Liver Qi is deficient and accompanied by internal heat, toxic pathogens will take advantage of this deficiency to attack upwards towards the eyes. Consequently, there will be symptoms of redness and pain in the eyes, or the formation of nebulae (corneal opacity), red-and-white membranes, polyps, and sores.
