[Heat Lao (Supplementary Discussion)]
Heat Lao is caused by excess heat in the Heart and Lung, damaging Qi and Blood. This leads to disharmony of Qi and Blood, stagnation and obstruction of the Zang-Fu organs, accumulation of internal heat that cannot be diffused and unblocked.
Symptoms include body soreness and pain, mental confusion and lethargy, tendency to lie down rather than rise, occasional night sweats, and gradual emaciation; hence it is called Heat Lao. If left untreated for a long time, heat toxins attack the bones and body, transforming into Bone Steaming (Gu Zheng).
