Seeing black flowers in the eyes arises from the deficiency of Yang Qi in the Zang-Fu organs and the competitive excess of Yin Qi. When a person's Yin and Yang are harmonious, Essence and Qi flow upward to the eyes, enabling clear vision.

Grind into a fine powder.

**Boyun San (Dispel Clouds Powder)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats various wind-toxins. Seeing black flowers, pterygium growing over the cornea, nebula and halos, and fleshy growths invading the pupil.
*Yingshi* (Fructus Rubi Chingii, stir-fried), *Jili Zi* (Fructus Tribuli, stir-fried and remove spines), *Qiangxiangzi* (Semen Celosiae Argyreae) (each 1 liang), *Eshi* (Fructus Arctii Lappaee, 1 liang, stir-fried), *Manjingzi* (Fructus Viticis Negundo, 3 sheng, stir-fried and boiled once each), *Chantui* (Periostracum Cicadae, chopped), *Fangfeng* (Radix Saposhnikoviae, remove rhizome and forks), *Xixin* (Rhizoma Asari).
Grind all into a powder.

**Congrong San (Cistanche Powder)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Kidney deficiency with Wind attacking upwards. Dizziness and headache, eye nebula, yellow or black spots appearing like flying flies, soreness and pain in the waist and hips, cold numbness in the legs and knees.
*Roucongrou* (Cistanches Herba, soak in water, scrape off wrinkled skin, dry-roast, 1 liang), *Bajitian* (Radix Morinda Officinalis, remove heart), *Binglang* (Areca Seed, bake and chop), *Bixie* (Rhizoma Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae), *Mendong* (Radix Ophiopogonis Japonici, remove heart, dry-roast), *Xijiao* (Cornu Rhinocerotis, shaved), *Renshen* (Radix Ginseng), *Muxiang* (Radix Aucklandiae).
Take on an empty stomach with warm decoction.

**Huanjing Dan (Restore Vision Pill)** (from *Yuyao Yuan Fang*) treats Kidney deficiency, seeing black flowers and flying flies, varying in color (black, white, or red), persisting for a long time, potentially developing into internal cataract.

Chop like hemp seeds, decoct in water. Take with a secondary decoction of Magnetite.

**Cishi Wan (Magnetite Pill)** (from *Taiping Huimin Heji Jufang*) treats seeing black flowers, tearing upon exposure to wind, and blurred distance vision.

**Ruiren Wan (Buckthorn Seed Pill)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats seeing black flowers and flying flies, itchy and painful dim vision, gradually progressing to green blindness.

*Xiujiu* (Owl, one piece, remove feathers, beak, feet, intestines, stir-fry until yellow), *Yanggan* (Sheep Liver, one piece, fry in clear oil to set blood, remove fascia, slice and dry-roast), *Manjingzi* (Fructus Viticis Negundo, half sheng), *Fangfeng* (Radix Saposhnikoviae, remove rhizome), *Chantui* (Periostracum Cicadae), *Kushen* (Radix Sophorae Flavescentis, soak in rice water and remove skin), *Jili Zi* (Fructus Tribuli), *Gouqizi* (Fructus Lycii Chinensis).

**Shudihuang Wan (Prepared Rehmannia Pill)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Kidney deficiency causing seeing black flowers. Palpation of the right hand Chi pulse should be deep and rapid; this is the sign.

Grind into powder, mix evenly with refined honey, pound another 500 times, form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 30 pills on an empty stomach and before evening meal, with salted wine.

**Tugan Wan (Rabbit Liver Pill)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Liver-Kidney Toxic-Wind attacking, black flowers and dim vision, inability to see objects.

**Fangfeng Tang (Saposhnikovia Decoction)** (from *Taiping Huimin Heji Jufang*, also known as Lingyangjiao San) treats seeing black flowers, eye dimness, gradually progressing to green blindness.

Grind into powder, take 3 qian per dose, decoct in 1 zhan of water until 7 fen remains, take warm.

**Qiangju Wan (Notopterygium and Chrysanthemum Pill)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Kidney Toxic-Wind attacking, black flowers in the eyes, continuous wind-tearing.

**Motop Gao (Scalp Massage Paste)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Liver-Kidney Deficient-Wind attacking upwards, black flowers in the eyes, or shaking like water waves.
*Kongqing* (Azurite, grind), *Qingyan* (Halite, grind, each half liang), *Huai Zi* (Seed of Sophora Japonica), *Muxiang* (Radix Aucklandiae), *Fuzi* (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, each 1 liang), *Dansha* (Cinnabaris, grind 1 fen), *Niusu* (Butyrum Bovis, 2 liang), *Ezhi* (Adip Anseris, 4 liang), *Hanliancao* (Herba Ecliptae, natural juice 1 sheng), *Longnao* (Borneolum Syntheticum, half qian).
Grind into powder. First, boil Hanliancao juice, Niusu, and Ezhi in a silver vessel for three to five boils. Add the herb powders and simmer until reduced by half. Store in a porcelain vessel. Before sleep, take an old plowshare iron piece weighing 3-2 liang, dip in the medicine, and massage the top of the head 30-20 times to penetrate the hair follicles. Subsequently take Jueming Wan. Avoid iron vessels.

**Jueming Wan (Cassia Seed Pill)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats persistent black flowers in the eyes.
*Juemingzi* (Semen Cassiae), *Gan Juhua* (Flos Chrysanthemi Indici, each 1 liang), *Cheqianzi* (Semen Plantaginis), *Shuyu* (Radix Dioscoreae Oppositae, half liang, remove rhizome), *Manjingzi* (Fructus Viticis Negundo, half liang), *Xiong* (Radix Chuanxiong, half liang), *Zhizi* (Fructus Gardeniae Jasminoidis).

**Lingyangjiao Tang (Antelope Horn Decoction)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats seeing black flowers, dizziness and dim vision, potential progression to green blindness, slightly dilated pupils.

**Xiong Wan (Chuanxiong Pill)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Liver-Kidney Deficient-Wind attacking upwards, black flowers in the eyes, head and eye discomfort, internal and external nebulae darkness, dull pain and astringency.
*Xiong* (Radix Chuanxiong), *Xixin* (Rhizoma Asari, remove seedlings and leaves), *Chantui* (Periostracum Cicadae, remove soil), *Gan Juhua* (Flos Chrysanthemi Indici), *Jingjie Sui* (Spica Schizonepetae), *Ruiren* (Semen Pruni Armeniacae, remove skin, each 1 liang), *Xijiao* (Cornu Rhinocerotis, shaved), *Lingyangjiao* (Cornu Saigae Tataricae).

**Motop Gao (Scalp Massage Paste)** (from *Taiping Huimin Heji Jufang*) treats seeing flowers in front of the eyes, colors varying between yellow, red, black, and white.
*Fuzi* (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, 1 liang, roast until cracked, remove skin and navel), *Muxiang* (Radix Aucklandiae, 1 liang), *Zhusha* (Cinnabaris, 1 fen), *Longnao* (Borneolum Syntheticum, half qian), *Qingyan* (Halite, 1.5 liang), *Niusu* (Butyrum Bovis, 2 liang), *Ezhi* (Adip Anseris, 4 liang).
Grind into powder, melt into paste. Apply a small amount to massage the top of the head each time.

**Zeyehhecao Wan (Peppermint Leaf and Hedecea Pill)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats seeing black flowers, blurred vision.
*Bohye Ye* (Folium Menthae haplocalycis), *Qianghuo* (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii, remove rhizome), *Jingjie Sui* (Spica Schizonepetae) (each 1 liang), *Jili Zi* (Fructus Tribuli, stir-fry, remove spines, 1.5 liang), *Fuzi* (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, 1 liang), *Zeyehhecao* (Herba Hedeceae).

**Ruiren San (Buckthorn Seed Powder)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats seeing black flowers and dim vision.
*Ruiren* (Semen Pruni Armeniacae, remove skin, 1.5 liang), *Qianghuo* (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii, remove rhizome), *Tianma* (Rhizoma Gastrodiae Elatae), *Huai Zi* (Seed of Sophora Japonica), *Shanzhizi* (Fructus Gardeniae Jasminoidis) (each 1 liang), *Huangqin* (Radix Scutellariae Baicalensis, remove black heart), *Huanglian* (Rhizoma Coptidis).

**Xiong Wan (Chuanxiong Pill)** (from *Yifang Jicheng*) treats blurred distance vision, frequent seeing of black flowers. Long-term use improves visual acuity.
*Xiong* (Radix Chuanxiong), *Juhua* (Flos Chrysanthemi Indici), *Jingjie* (Herba Schizonepetae), *Bohe* (Folium Menthae haplocalycis), *Gancao* (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis) (each 1 liang), *Cangzhu* (Rhizoma Atractylodis Lanceae, 2 liang, soak in rice water).
Grind into fine powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of paulownia seeds.

**Bailong Fen (White Dragon Powder)** (from *Yuyao Yuan Fang*) treats Kidney Water deficiency and Liver Meridian pathogenic Heat, blurred vision, or formation of nebulae, pterygium, tearing upon exposure to wind, seeing black flowers, or spots like flies, oil droplets, dry and swollen painful eyes, or unbearable itching. All are treated.
Use 3 dou of Niter. In the second or ninth lunar month, make a large jar. Soak in hot water, filter through cotton, pour into a silver or porcelain vessel, boil until more than half remains. Continue boiling overnight in the pot. Store for use.

**Roucongrou Wan (Cistanche Pill)** (from *Taiping Huimin Heji Jufang*) treats eye dimness, nebula, redness and astringency, distant vision appearing to have black flowers, and internal cataracts preventing vision.
*Roucongrou* (Cistanches Herba, soak in wine overnight, scrape off wrinkled skin, roast dry), *Cishi* (Magnetitum, roast and quench in vinegar seven times, finely grind, process with water), *Shenqu* (Massa Medicata Fermentata, stir-fry until slightly yellow), *Qingyan* (Halite, dissolve in water, grind separately into powder).

**Wubei Wan (Chinese Gall Pill)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats seeing black flowers, removing nebulae and brightening eyes.
*Bajitian* (Radix Morinda Officinalis, remove heart, 1 liang), *Gouqizi* (Fructus Lycii Chinensis, select clean, 2 liang), *Gan Juhua* (Flos Chrysanthemi Indici, select clean, 3 liang), *Xuanfuhua* (Capitulum Inulae Japonicae, select clean, 4 liang), *Shujiao* (Fructus Zanthoxylli, remove eyes and closed mouths, stir-fry until sweat appears).

**Huanglian Wan (Coptis Pill)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats all eye diseases, green blindness, black flowers, red veins, and hot tears.

**Huangbai Jiang (Phellodendron Juice)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats seeing objects as if in two layers, or like fly wings resembling wandering silk.
*Huangbai* (Cortex Phellodendri Amurensis, 1 liang), *Elí* (Pyrus bretschneideri, 3 pieces), *Huanglian* (Rhizoma Coptidis, remove threads, 1.1 liang), *Huangqin* (Radix Scutellariae Baicalensis, remove black heart, 3 fen), *Zhuye* (Folium Bambusae) (half liang).
Chop, decoct in water, extract juice. Dip a chopstick and apply to the eyes.

**Zhusha San (Cinnabar Powder)** treats black and white flowers in the eyes, applying to upper and lower eyes.
*Guangming Zhusha* (Cinnabaris, purified, grind), *Longnao Xiang* (Borneolum Syntheticum, each 6 fen), *Cheqianzi* (Semen Plantaginis, 3 fen), *Digupi* (Cortex Lycii Chinensis, white ones), *Juemingzi* (Semen Cassiae, each 5 fen).
Finely grind, blow into nose or apply to eyes.

**Zhugan Jian (Boiled Liver Decoction)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats black flowers in the eyes, gradually forming internal cataracts, strabismus, wind-toxin attacking eyes causing swelling and pain, astringency, itching, short-sightedness, and inverted eyelashes.
*Qianghuo* (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii, remove rhizome), *Duhuo* (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, remove rhizome), *Qiangxiangzi* (Semen Celosiae Argyreae), *Kuandonghua* (Flos Farfarae) (each 1 liang).
Grind into powder, take 3 qian per dose, decoct in 1 zhan of water until 7 fen remains, add one sheep liver, cook together until soft, remove herbs, eat liver and drink juice.

**Gouqizi Wan (Goji Berry Pill)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Liver-Kidney Wind attacking upwards, seeing black flowers.
*Gouqizi* (Fructus Lycii Chinensis, steam and roast nine times, 2 liang), *Xuanfuhua* (Capitulum Inulae Japonicae, select clean), *Shujiao* (Fructus Zanthoxylli, remove eyes and closed mouths, stir-fry until sweat appears), *Bajitian* (Radix Morinda Officinalis, purple-hearted ones, remove heart).
Grind into powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of paulownia seeds.

**Baimi Huanglian Gao (White Honey and Coptis Paste)** (from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Wind-Toxin attacking upwards, black flowers in the eyes, inability to see.
*Baimi* (Mel, 0.5 jin), *Huanglian* (Rhizoma Coptidis, remove threads, 1 liang), *Dazao* (Fructus Jujubae, 5 pieces), *Dan Zhuye* (Folium Bambusae, one handful, wash).
Decoct in 2 sheng of water. First boil Zhuye, extract 1 sheng. Add honey, Coptis, and Jujube. Simmer until 0.5 sheng remains. Do not let burn.

**Yuming Wan (Meeting Light Pill)** (from *Yuyao Yuan Fang*) treats Wind-Phlegm causing dizziness of head and eyes, blurred vision, seeing black flowers and flying flies.
