The *Huangdi Neijing* (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) states that Bi syndrome caused by an excess of dampness is called Zhuo Bi (Fixed Bi). The dampness of the earth, when pathogenic, damages the skin, flesh, sinews, and vessels. Dampness corresponds to the Earth element. The nature of Earth is heavy and sluggish.
Formula: Mofeng Gao (Wind-Moving Ointment, from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Wind-Damp Zhuo Bi. Despite taking numerous medications, the muscles remain numb and insensible.
Ingredients: Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root, peeled), Qianghuo (Notopterygium Rhizome, removed rhizome base), Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Xixin (Asarum Root, removed seedlings and leaves), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Radix), Shujiao (Zanthoxylum Bungeanum Pericarp, removed eyes and closed mouths, stir-fried until sweating), Zhizhuhua (Rhododendron Molle Flower), Fuzi Tou (Aconite Lateral Root Head, removed peel and navel). Mix with fermented soybeans, blend with two sheng of rice vinegar, apply a small amount externally to the affected area to alleviate Bi.
Shihu Tang (Dendrobium Decoction, also known as Shihu Qinjiao San) treats Cold-Damp Bi where the pathogen lingers without dispersing, leading to insensibility in the four limbs. Symptoms include weak and spasmodic legs, or pain preventing walking, and swelling on the dorsum of the foot.
Cezi Jinjiu Fang (Cesi Wine Infusion Formula) treats Cold-Damp Zhuo Bi, characterized by insensibility of the skin on the four limbs, resulting in weakness and inability to walk.
Cezi Tang (Cesi Decoction, from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Cold-Damp Bi where the pathogen lingers and does not depart, causing insensibility of the skin and weakness in the hands and feet.
Ingredients: Cesi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root, processed until cracked, peel and navel removed), Wujia Pi (Eucommia Bark, 1 liang each), Lingyang Jiao (Saiga Antelope Horn, shaved), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root, peeled), Yiyiren (Coix Seed), Mahuang (Ephedra Stem, removed root and joints), [Missing Herb] (removed seedlings and soil), Gancao (Licorice Root, [missing dosage/process]). Boil for an appropriate duration.
Fuzi Wan (Aconite Pill, also known as Baihua She Wan) treats Cold-Damp Bi where the pathogen lingers and does not depart, causing flaccidity and weakness in the four limbs, insensibility of the skin, and mental confusion/drowsiness.
Baihua She Wan (White-Flower Snake Pill, from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Cold-Damp Zhuo Bi, characterized by insensibility of the skin or pain in the joints.
Ingredients: Baihua She (Deinagkistrodon Acutus, soaked in wine, skin and bones removed, roasted), Xianlingpi (Epimedium Leaf, 1 liang each), Ganxie (Scorpio, stir-fried), Yinyu (Ilex Rotunda Leaf), Wutou (Aconitum Carmichaelii Lateral Root, processed until cracked, peel and navel removed), Tiannanxing (Arisaema Rhizome, processed), Bibo (Dioscorea Hypoglauca Rhizome, 1 liang each). Alternatively, use Santie (Gastrodia Rhizome) 3 liang; if unavailable, [omit]. Take 20 pills per dose, washed down with Mint Wine.
Tianxiong Jinjiu Fang (Tianxiong Wine Infusion Formula, from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Cold-Damp Zhuo Bi, characterized by insensibility of the skin and flesh, and bone marrow pain.
Ingredients: Tianxiong (Prepared Aconitum Carmichaelii Lateral Root, processed until cracked, peel and navel removed), Fuzi (Prepared Aconitum Carmichaelii Lateral Root, processed until cracked, peel and navel removed, 1 liang each), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root, peeled), Duohuo (Angelica Pubescens Radix, removed rhizome base), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Radix, sliced and baked), Bai [Shao?] (White Peony Root). Place herbs in a silk bag, soak in [wine], stop when effective.
Fuling Tang (Poria Decoction, also known as Fuling Chuanxiong Tang, from *Yifang Dacheng*) treats Wind-Damp Bi lingering in place, causing numbness in the four limbs, spasms and insensibility, and edema.
Ingredients: Chi Fuling (Red Poria, removed black skin), Sanggen Baipi (Mulberry Root Bark, 2 liang each), Fangji (Stephania Tetrandra Root, one variant uses Fangfeng), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, removed coarse bark), Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome, 1.5 liang each). Coarsely crush and sieve, take 6 qian per dose. After taking the medicine, use fresh ginger [to decoct for washing or swallowing].
Ganxie San (Dry Scorpion Powder, also known as [Missing Name] San, from *Shenghui Fang*) treats Cold-Damp Zhuo Bi lingering in place, causing insensibility of the body and four limbs.
Ingredients: Ganxie (Scorpio, stir-fried), Piaoxiao (Cuttlefish Bone, stir-fried), Duohuo (Angelica Pubescens Radix, removed rhizome base, 1 liang each), Zhizhu (Rhododendron Molle, mixed with vinegar and stir-fried), Tiannanxing (Arisaema Rhizome, processed, half liang each), Bibo (Dioscorea Hypoglauca Rhizome), Santie (Gastrodia Rhizome).
Longhu Gao (Dragon-Tiger Ointment, from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Wind-Damp Zhuo Bi, characterized by thick/heavy muscles and insensibility to pain and itch.
Ingredients: Longgu (Fossilized Bones, 3 liang), Hugu (Tiger Bone, 3 liang, coated with butter and roasted), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Radix, sliced and baked), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, removed coarse bark, 1 liang each), Zaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit, half liang). Grind all into powder, store in a porcelain jar, use [externally] as needed.
