Huan Ju (Slow Carbuncle) is caused by cold pathogenic qi invading the meridians, leading to stagnation and obstruction of Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi) and Wei Qi (Defensive Qi). If the cold pathogen becomes excessive, swelling occurs; the disease lies deep within. Its appearance lacks distinct head or tail boundaries, being as large as a normal person's fist or as small as a peach. The lesion adheres closely to the skin and flesh. The color of the swelling resembles that of the surrounding muscle and is not very red. After many days without ulceration, it eventually turns purplish-dark. The flesh rots like a sore on an ox's neck. Because its initial progression is slow, it is named "Huan Ju" (Slow Carbuncle); because its swelling color resembles the muscle color, it is also called "Rou Se Ju" (Flesh-Color Carbuncle).

Usage: Finely grind each ingredient separately into powder. Take one clay pot. Place Dansha in the South, Cihuang in the center, Cishi in the North, Zengqing in the East, Bai Shiying in the West, Qishi at the top, Shigao next, then add Zhongru and Xionghuang, and finally cover with Yunmu.
