The *Neijing* (Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic) states: The Lung dislikes cold. External cold to the body or consumption of cold drinks and food will injure the Lung. This is because the Lung meridian circulates through the stomach region. If attacked by cold pathogenic factors, symptoms such as coughing, nasal congestion, and expectoration of sputum will occur.
**Baishiyang Wan (White Quartz Pill)**: Treats the Lung affected by cold pathogenic factors; tonifies and benefits Yuan Qi (Original Qi).
Ingredients: Baishiying (Quartz, ground), Cishi (Magnetite, crushed and ground), Yangqishi (Yangqi Stone, ground), Rongcongrong (Cistanche Herba, soaked in decoction, sliced, and dried), Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen, soaked in wine until soft, pounded, and dried), Shudihuang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix, 1.5 liang each for the first five herbs), Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis, roots removed), Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Gualougen (Trichosanthis Radix, 3 liang each for these three herbs), Bajitian (Morinda Officinalis Radix, heart removed, 1 liang 1 fen), Chuangzi (Cnidii Fructus, 0.5 liang), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, forked tips removed, 1 liang 1 fen), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus, coarse bark removed), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang each for these three herbs). Pound into powder. Mix with refined honey and form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 15 pills per dose, warm on an empty stomach; rice drink may also be used. Dosage can be increased to 30 pills, twice daily.

This disease arises from cold invasion. For such critical conditions, anyone with chronic Lung disease who has taken cold medicines for a long time, resulting in weak constitution and cold Large Intestine, presenting with a slightly rapid pulse at the Cun Kou position, should take this formula.
