Water and fluids cannot be transported without ascending and descending movements, nor can they be resolved without the warming power of Yang Qi. The cause of excessive salivation due to Kidney deficiency is generally attributed to insufficiency of the Kidneys, where Yang Qi is weak and minute, compounded by the coagulation of Yin-Cold, which stagnates between the chest and diaphragm. Unable to resolve water and fluids, these overflow upwards to the teeth and gums, thus causing a propensity for salivation. The Kidney governs water, with its lower aspect being the Bladder, which is the Fu-organ of the Kidney and governs body fluids. Both meridians symbolize water and are therefore exterior-interior partners. If the Zang-Fu organs are in harmony, fluids will not flow into the lower abdomen.
