Postpartum deficiency-thirst arises from blood deficiency and the subsequent loss of body fluids. Blood belongs to Yin; when Yin is deficient, Yang becomes hyperactive. Yang hyperactivity generates heat. Deficiency-heat steams and fumes, causing the depletion of internal fluids.
Alternatively, if thirst and vexation persist despite drinking water, it originates from Kidney deficiency or is triggered by improper fluid intake. The Bladder is the fu-organ responsible for storing and excreting fluids; it disseminates and circulates Yang Qi, steaming upwards to the Lungs to transform water into nourishing fluids. Improper care can lead to disease.
