Use Xanthii Herba (Cocklebur Herb), also known as Banyuanlai Cao. Use only the roots that are red and soft, pound them into a paste. Mix evenly with unfermented white wine and take orally. Next, use salted plum flesh, pound it into a paste, mix with pig bile juice, and drink.
Formula for Treating Carbuncles and Sores
Take one bamboo tube. Scrape off the green outer layer until the yellow inner layer is visible. Keep the nodes at both ends. Drill a hole on one of the end nodes, about the size of a mung bean.
Formula for Carbuncle Swelling (from Bencao)
Use Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica), also known as Jiasu, grind it into powder, mix with vinegar, and apply externally. Another method: chop Jingjie, boil in five sheng of water to obtain two sheng, cool, and divide into two doses for oral administration. This can also ward off evil toxic vapors.
For Severe Carbuncle Swelling (from Shenghui Fang)
Use Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) powder, mix with vinegar, and apply to the affected area. Reapply when dry.
