Severe heat dysentery is called Chi Li (Red Dysentery). Its root cause lies in intestinal deficiency, where wind pathogens invade, compounded by pathogenic heat. Blood, agitated by heat, flows recklessly and seeps into the intestines due to deficiency, mixing with the dysenteric discharge. The color is purely red, hence named Chi Li (Red Dysentery). If intestinal deficiency persists without medication, it becomes chronic dysentery (Jiu Li), evolving into symptoms such as vomiting (Ou), hiccups (Yue), and infantile malnutrition syndrome (Gan Ji).
