Take raw Fuzi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix), remove the skin and umbilicus, cut open. Soak in one cup of fresh juice extracted from Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Fresh Ginger Juice) overnight. Remove and roast until the original ginger juice is completely dried. Slice thinly and weigh two liang. Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take three qian each time, mixed with warm wine on an empty stomach. Take before meals.
Tianxian San (Celestial Immortal Powder) (from Yang's Family Preserved Formulas), treats generalized numbness, pain in the waist and legs, joint stiffness, and bone pain.
Take Tianxianzi (Semen Hyoscyami), Caowutou (Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii Raw), Chuangzhizi (Fructus Cnidii), Muli (Concha Ostreae calcined), and Ganjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Preparatum). Each of the above five herbs, half a liang. Crush the ingredients. Divide equally into two doses. For each dose, add five sheng of water, boil for five to seven boils. Apply by washing/lavaging the affected area, and cover with a blanket to induce sweating. Sweating indicates efficacy.
Arm pain is often due to Wind pathogen; the pulse is soggy yet paradoxically tight, clearly indicating Dampness pathogen involvement. (From *Yonglei Qianfang*)
Take Cangzhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) and Fuzi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix) in equal parts, and Muxiang (Radix Aucklandiae) (one fen). Decoct with Jiangju (Ginger Juice), cover with silk fabric. Leave exposed under stars on the roof overnight. Reheat in a double boiler and take warm the next day. Recovery will follow.
Mahuang Tang Jian (Ephedra Decoction Variant) (from Li Dongyuan's *Shixiao Fang*), treats internal invasion of Yin-Dampness, spontaneous sweating, reluctance to speak, fatigue and weakness in the four limbs, and migratory pain. This condition arises from latent Fire in the Lower Jiao failing to extend freely, manifesting as floating restlessness, heat, sweating, and generalized body pain. It is caused by the struggle between Qi and Dampness. One should employ methods to raise Yang and induce sweating to gradually disperse the pathogen. If the disease is in the meridians, inducing sweating is also appropriate. Especially during the last month of spring (Jichun), when the pulse is slow and delayed, inducing sweating is particularly suitable. This allows Wind-Dampness to be expelled and Yang Qi to generate, thereby resolving fatigue and promoting the flourishing of Qi and Blood.
Take Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae) (two qian, remove joints, slightly crush without making into powder), add five to six zhan of water, bring to a boil, skim off the foam, and decoct until three zhan remain. Then add the following herbs and continue decocting: Huangqi (Radix Astragali), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) (half a qian), Xingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum, remove skins) (three kernels), Renshen (Radix Ginseng) (half a qian), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) (three qian), Qianghuo (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii), Chaihu Gen (Radix Bupleuri), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Huangbai (Cortex Phellodendri), Shengdihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Recens) (half a qian). Another version excludes Baizhu, Renshen, Gancao, and Qianghuo. Cut the herbs to the size of hemp seeds. Combine all as one dose. Add to the Mahuang decoction, simmer until one zhan remains. Take before retiring. Do not eat until full. Gradual sweating indicates effectiveness.
Treats Back-Qi attacks attacking the back, both arms, and flanks, suddenly attacking the waist, causing restlessness in sitting and lying down. (From *Huming Fang*)
Take Zhike (Fructus Aurantii) (two liang, remove pith) and Badou (Semen Crotonis) (half a liang, remove skin and membrane). Stir-fry the above ingredients in a pan until fragrant and cooked. Remove Badou and discard. Add Chenxiang (Lignum Aquilariae Resinatum) and Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), each one fen. Pound together into a fine powder. Take half a qian on an empty stomach, mixed with Congtang (Scallion Soup). If bowel movement does not occur, increase the dose by one qian for the second administration.
Treats sudden physical fatigue and pain in the four limbs and hundred joints in men and women, constipation with heat, and yellow-red urine. (From *Huming Fang*)

Each one liang. Grind into a fine powder. Take two qian each time, with one zhan of water, decoct. After taking the medicine, lie down. Drink the dregs slowly while warm.

Take Chenxiang (Lignum Aquilariae Resinatum), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Niuxi (Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae), Fuling (Sclerotium Poriae), Qinjiao (Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae), Muxiang (Radix Aucklandiae), Huangqi (Radix Astragali, lightly roasted), Shu Fuzi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix), Lagui (Ramulus Cinnamomi, remove rough bark), Biejia (Carapax et Plastrum Testudinis, soaked to remove skirt edge, vinegar-roasted until yellow, each one liang), Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri), Jingjie (Herba Schizonepetae), each half a liang), Bajitian (Radix Morindae Officinalis, remove heart), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparata), Qianghuo (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii), Shu Dihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, wine-washed, decocted/steamed, each seven qian and half), Quanxie (Scorpio) (three qian and half), Da Rou Doukou (Nucis Arecae Condita) (four nuts). In the past, Yang Xi suffered from back swelling. Ma Siming applied refined stone paste, resulting in immediate recovery. The method for refining stone is: Take coarse yellow stone, sized like a goose or duck egg. Heat fiercely until red-hot, then immerse in pure vinegar. Stone flakes will naturally fall off. Repeat heating and immersing until the stone is exhausted. Collect the flakes, dry them in the sun, pound and sieve finely. Mix with vinegar and apply to the swelling. All cases heal. (From *Danliao Fang*)
Treats arm and knee pain caused by Qi stagnation and Wind obstruction. (From *Bencao*)
Wrap with Cu Tang (Vinegar Sugar). Change twice, and it should heal.
*Bai Yi Xuan Fang* states: To treat sudden, unbearable pain in one or two points between the arms and legs that strikes the bone. Use only Yuanhua Gen (Radix Daphnes Genkwa) alone, grind into a fine powder, mix with Mi Cu (Rice Vinegar). Apply according to the size of the area. Pain stops immediately. Doctor Guo from Luzhou said this is a prescription by Doctor Tao Chengyi. He once treated a woman who contracted this illness postpartum, with good results. However, the application may not stay in place; it must be covered with paper flowers and secured with silk cotton.
