Body pain is caused either by dampness or by phlegm obstruction. Some individuals, having suffered the shock of knives and saws, combined with internal deficiency, are injured by wind-cold and water-dampness. This causes the heart orifices to become stagnant, leading to blockage and closure of the meridians and collaterals, resulting in poor blood circulation. Consequently, the intestines, flesh, bones, and joints suffer from stabbing pain. The treatment method involves using Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Wulingzhi (Trogopterori Faeces), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma). After taking the medicine, small black pieces are discharged, and if the pain is not severe, the condition can be cured.
Formulas
Formula for treating back pain. (From *Haishang Mingfang*)
Use 2-3 liang of Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), cut into thin slices, soak in wine for three days, and drink the wine. When the wine is finished, replace with fresh Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) for continued soaking and consumption. Recovery occurs within two to three days.
Liuxi Yinzi (Flowing Qi Decoction) (From *Zhinan Fang*). Treats back pain that extends outward to the muscles, pulling on the dorsal spleen area, occurring intermittently. This is due to the abnormal circulation of Ying and Wei Qi (Nutritive and Defensive Qi), which stagnates in the meridians and collaterals and contends with healthy Qi. During attacks, symptoms resemble paralysis.
Zisuye (Perillae Folium), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride), Kugeng (Platycodonis Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Wuyao (Linderae Radix), Fuling (Poria), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus), Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) (each 0.5 liang), Zhi Gancao (Prepared Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Juapi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (each 0.3 fen), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (2 liang), Dafuzi (Arecae Semen) (2 liang, crushed and stir-fried with ginger juice), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) (2 liang). The above herbs are crushed into coarse powder. For each dose, use 2 cups of water, add 3 slices of ginger and 2 jujubes, decoct until 1 cup remains, strain, and take. Another version for treating waist and arm pain contains Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) and Juapi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium).
Niantong San (Pain-Relieving Powder) (From *Yuyao Yuan Fang*). A bathing medicament.
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (remove rhizome head), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) (remove rhizome head), Hei Gouji (Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum), Gusuibu (Drynariae Rhizoma) (both remove hairs), Bencao (Ligustici Wallichii Rhizoma) (remove soil), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) (remove seedlings and soil), Chi Shaoyao (Red Paeoniae Radix), Ziran Tong (Natural Pyrite) (quench in wine seven times), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) (remove rough bark), Biba (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma) (each 1 liang). The above herbs are made into a coarse powder. Take 2 liang per dose, wrap securely in a handkerchief, place inside a hot salt pack, and apply as a hot compress to the painful area.
Zhike Zhusan (Bitter Orange Boiled Powder) (From *Jianyi Fang*). Treats bone pain, muscle spasm, heaviness in the waist and legs, urgency of tendons in the thighs, pulling pain in the hypochondrium, inability to raise the limbs, and gradual back stiffness caused by grief and distress leading to Liver Qi rising to the axillae. Highly effective for hypochondriac pain.
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) (each 4 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (2 qian), Gange (Puerariae Radix) (1.5 qian). The above herbs are chopped. Take 4 qian per dose with 1 cup of water, 3 slices of ginger, decoct to 70%, and take on an empty stomach.
Baijiezi San (White Mustard Seed Powder) (From *Weishi Fang*). Treats back pain extending to muscles, pulling on the dorsal spleen area, intermittent. Caused by abnormal circulation of Ying and Wei Qi (Nutritive and Defensive Qi), stagnation in meridians, and contention with healthy Qi, resembling paralysis during attacks.
True Baijiezi (Sinapis Semen), Muguezi (Momordicae Semen) (peeled, each 2 liang), Moyao (Myrrha), Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) (each 0.5 liang). Grind all into powder, mix thoroughly. Take 1 qian per dose, mixed with warm wine.
Gualou Shi Wan (Trichosanthes Fruit Pill) (From *Jisheng Fang*). Treats chest fullness and pain radiating to the back and hypochondrium, accompanied by shortness of breath and stifling sensation.
Gualou Shi (Trichosanthis Fructus) (separately ground), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus) (pulp removed, bran-fried), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) (boiled seven times), Jiegeng (Platocodonis Radix) (rhizome head removed, each 1 liang). Grind into fine powder, make pills with ginger juice paste, size of paulownia seeds. Take 50 pills per dose after meals, washed down with light ginger soup.
Kongxian Dan (Phlegm-Draining Pill) (From *Weishi Fang*). Sudden onset of unbearable hidden pain in the back, hands, feet, waist, and hips, radiating to bones and sinews like a hook, causing restlessness, with wandering pain. Folk doctors misunderstand this as "Wandering Bi" (Zou Zhu) and use wind-dispelling drugs and acupuncture, which are ineffective. It is also not wind-toxin accumulation turning into carbuncles, nor should it be treated with plaster. This is actually phlegm-fluid retention hiding above and below the diaphragm. Symptoms may include severe headache preventing lifting the head, mental confusion, drowsiness, loss of taste, thick sticky sputum, sawing sounds at night, excessive salivation during sleep, heavy swollen cold numbness in limbs, and blocked qi-pulse, often misdiagnosed as paralysis. Using this drug for a few doses cures the disease completely.
Gansui (Kansui Radix) (heart removed), Zijda Ji (Euphorbiae Pekinensis Radix) (skin removed), Baijiezi (Sinapis Semen) (authentic, equal parts). Grind into powder, make pills with boiled paste, size of white mustard seeds, dry in sun. Take 5-10 pills after meals before sleep, washed down with ginger soup or hot water. If the disease is fierce and constitution strong, increasing the number of pills is acceptable. The effect is miraculous.
Formula for treating universal head and body pain, extreme irritability, and feeling like dying.
Take head scurf the size of a soybean, ingest it. Also, store steamed soybeans in bags and apply as hot compresses to painful areas. Using two bags alternately is best. If beans are unavailable, steamed mouse burrow soil can be used for compression.
For treating deep skin pain.
Use Heshouwu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix) powder, mix with fresh ginger juice to form a paste, apply to the painful area, wrap with silk, and heat with a fire-heated shoe sole. Miraculous effect.

Use new Hu Jinggu (Pantherae Ossus) and Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix) 2 liang, soak in unadulterated wine. Soak for 7 days in spring/summer, 14 days in autumn/winter. After soaking, store in silver or earthenware vessel, keep warm over slow fire for 2-3 days before consumption. Another formula includes Huang Ling Yangjiao (Saiga Tataricae Cornu) 1 da liang.
Topical Yanhua San (Genkwa Powder) (From *Jingyan Liangfang*). Treats sudden sharp pain in arms and legs, penetrating to bone, unbearable.
Yanhua Gen (Genkwae Radix) 1 bunch. Grind into powder, mix with rice vinegar, apply according to lesion size. If pain persists, cover with paper flower and bind with cotton cloth. This formula successfully treated a woman postpartum with this condition.
For treating arm pain. (From *Jingyan Liangfang*)
Cut Sangzhi (Mori Ramulus) finely, 1 sheng, stir-fry until fragrant, decoct in 3 sheng water to obtain 2 sheng liquid. Take several times daily for relief.

Yanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizoma) (stir-fried), Lagul (Cinnamomi Cortex), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (equal parts). Grind into powder, take 2 qian per dose mixed with wine. Yanhusuo activates blood, dispels wind, and regulates qi.

The eight ingredients are decocted in 3 sheng clear wine and 5 sheng water to yield 3 sheng. Take 5 he of warm decoction three times daily.
Sanpi San (Three Barks Powder) (From *Zhu Shi Jiyan Fang*). Treats wind-toxin and dampness flowing into knees and legs, causing limb curling, tendon restriction, foot pain, and difficulty walking. Effective for chronic cases of 20-30 years when taken as medicinal wine.

Maintain continuous mild intoxication but avoid drunkenness. Severe cases resolve in two courses. Ten days after starting, large rashes appear on legs, bursting purple-black blood. Apply Mofeng Gao (Wind-Rubbing Ointment) when dry for natural healing. Daily sensation of hundreds of snakes emerging from feet indicates efficacy. For heel cord pain pulling to scrotum, use Miaoxiang San (Wonderful Fragrance Powder) divided into 2-3 doses, taken warm with wine-salt water before meals for extension.
