Formula to Turn White Hair Black, Promote Longevity, Brighten Eyes, and Lighten the Body (from Bencao):

The Kidney governs bone marrow. The Brain is the Sea of Marrow. Hair is the floral manifestation of the Brain and is nourished by Marrow. The Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel) is the Sea of Meridians. Its branches floating outward ascend along the abdomen, converge at the throat, and divergent collaterals surround the lips and mouth. When Blood is abundant, it permeates and irrigates the skin, generating lanugo and hair. This is the origin of facial hair and scalp hair. If facial hair or scalp hair does not grow, or grows yellow and withered, it is due to Brain deficiency and decline of the Chong Mai, resulting in an inability to nourish. Medicinal treatment is required to restore moisture and luster.
