The Kidney Meridian of Foot-Shaoyin (Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Channel) has abundant blood and qi; thus, the beard is moist and black. The Bladder Meridian of Foot-Taiyang (Foot-Taiyang Bladder Channel) has abundant blood and qi; thus, the hair is moist and black. When the blood and qi of these two meridians are deficient, the beard and hair turn yellow or white. Therefore, to restore their moisture and return them to a deep black color, although there are methods of external dyeing, it is far superior to take formulas that tonify blood and replenish qi as daily maintenance. When blood and qi are harmonious and adequate, their nourishing effects manifest externally, which is far more effective than mere external dyeing.
