[Supplementary Discussion]
Thirst (Shi) manifests in three primary patterns. The first is "Thirst" (general excessive thirst), the second is "Zhong Xiao" (Middle Consumption, characterized by polyphagia), and the third is "Shen Xiao" (Kidney Consumption, or Lower Consumption). If a patient drinks large amounts of water but produces little urine, this condition is termed "Thirst". If urination is frequent and involuntary, it is referred to as "Hai" (a term likely denoting fluid depletion or upper consumption in this specific context).
