The Kidney governs the feet. If Kidney deficiency allows Wind-Dampness to clash and invade the feet and knees, it is named Hongxiangjiao (Gouty Arthritis/Rheumatism of the lower limbs). This occurs because Qi and Blood are stagnant, and Damp-Toxic fumes are abundant in the skin and interstices.
Shinan Wan (Stone Nan Pill) [Source: *Zhi Zhi Fang*] specifically treats Wind-Toxin causing foot swelling and sores, or tendon spasms with heavy pain.
Herbs: *Acanthopanacis Senticosi Caulis* (Shinan Ye), *Coicis Semen* (Yiyi Ren), *Armeniacae Semen Amarum* (Xingren, soaked in decoction, peeled, stir-fried until slightly red), *Pharbitidis Semen* (Qianniu, stir-fried ripe), *Arecae Pericarpium* (Dafuzi, used with peel), *Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma* (Chuanxiong), *Dipsaci Radix* (Xuduan), *Cnidii Rhizoma* (Qixian - note: text says "Xi", likely referring to a knee-related herb or typo for Qixian/Cnidium, kept as literal translation contextually implies knee joint herbs), each 3 liang.
Preparation: Soak, steam, grind into paste, and form pills.

Case for treating foot swelling: A 61-year-old man had severe foot swelling and sores. After suddenly eating pork and feeling unwell, a doctor treated him with purgatives, leading to slight improvement. Later, he contracted Wind while going out; after sweating, his head suddenly swelled up purple, he produced much saliva, and had floating blisters and small sores on his earlobes with yellow sweat. He was treated with Xiao Xuming Tang with double the dose of Qianghuo, decocted and taken, resulting in recovery.
Loulu Wan treats severe Hongxiangjiao swelling due to sores that have persisted for years without healing, with continuous flow of pus and blood. This is caused by Wind-Toxin fumes stagnating from taking medicines and alcohol during winter, scattering in the interstices. It is suitable to take this formula. This formula also treats wind itching and various tinea/psoriasis diseases, lightens the waist and legs, and unblocks the Large Intestine.
