[Translation]
Regarding bone steaming (Gu Zheng, a type of consumptive disease characterized by heat sensation in the bones) and emaciation, regardless of gender, it is all due to the imbalance of Qi and Blood, combined with Five Exhaustions and Seven Injuries (general terms for various pathological factors causing organ damage). This leads to chest and epigastric fullness and oppression, vexation and pain in the back and shoulders, blurred vision, weakness in the four limbs, restless sleep, stiffness and pain in the spine and loins, soreness and pain in the knees and shins, excessive sleeping with difficulty rising, symptoms resembling feigned illness. In the morning, one may appear healthy, but after noon, there is slight heat in the four limbs, redness and yellowness of the cheeks. Seeing others pass by often provokes anger; any minor dissatisfaction leads to great wrath. Walking quickly causes leg weakness. Night sweats occur during sleep, dreams of sexual intercourse with ghosts, occasional palpitations and fright, sometimes coughing, distension in the hypochondrium, mild diarrhea of the large intestine, dryness of the nose and mouth, frequent sticky saliva, gradual emaciation, decreasing appetite, leading to death soon, and mental confusion are all its manifestations.
