Secretly Prescribed Mercury Ointment: For topical application to treat severe and malignant ulcerations caused by *Yangmei Fengdu* (Chancre Poison/Syphilitic Toxin) that have persisted for years without healing; this is an experienced miraculous prescription.
Huangbo (Phellodendri Cortex), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (each 1 qian), Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (5 fen, these three herbs are ground separately), Xionghuang (Realgar), Danfan (Alumen), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), Ercha (Catechu), Tongqing (Verdigris) (each 3 fen), Qingfen (Calomel), Kufan (Alumen Ustums) (each 4 fen), Dafengzi (Seminar Jatrophae) (oil removed, pure powder taken, 5 fen; black ones should not be used), Zhenzhu (Margarita) (1.5 fen, used raw), Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum) (1.5 fen, these two herbs are ground separately), Renyan (Arsenicum Rubrum/Orpiment processed as medicine) (7 li for robust individuals, 0.5 fen for weak individuals, 6 li for average constitution).
The above fourteen ingredients are ground into an extremely fine powder, divided into three portions, each portion weighing approximately 1.8 qian.
Fanda Ma (Euphorbia lathyris seed powder, ground separately into powder). If the sores are severe and the patient is robust with a good appetite, use 5 fen per portion; if the patient is weak and bedridden, use 3 fen per portion; for average constitution, use 4 fen. Mix the Fanda Ma powder into each portion of the previous medication and grind evenly.
Shuiyin (Mercurius): For robust individuals, use 1 liang or 8-9 qian per portion; for average constitution, use 5-6 qian; for those bedridden and extremely weak, only 3 qian may be used, absolutely no more.
First, place the Fanda Ma, Shuiyin, and one portion of the previous powdered medication into a cup. Add a small amount of true Sesame Oil (Sesami Oleum), and grind with fingers until the mercury and medication are thoroughly mixed into one entity. Gradually add more oil, grinding for a long time, until no visible mercury particles remain. The consistency should be roughly like thin paste.
1. Application Method: Apply this ointment to the arterial pulse points at the four wrists and ankles. Each portion of the medicine must be applied over three days, once in the morning and once in the evening each day. Each application session should involve 600-700 friction strokes. After application, wrap the area with cloth. During the application process, any slightly broken skin on the body should be covered with Moxa-free Plaster (Wu She Gao Yao). The plaster should be spread thickly and changed every two days. When changing, avoid exposure to wind; stay within curtains/tents. In winter, use thick quilts and heated kang beds; in other seasons, keep warm. In the south, using thick bedding covers is sufficient. By the seventh day of application, toxins will inevitably emerge from the gum lines, accompanied by foul-smelling saliva. If the mouth and teeth are ulcerated and bleeding, rinse with a decoction of Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) and Fengfang (Apiis Nidus), cooled, and do not swallow. For mild cases, rinsing with Huajiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium) decoction is also acceptable. The applied skin will necessarily break; do not reduce the frequency due to fear of pain. Avoid salt for over ten days (more is better), and avoid fishy odors, cold/raw foods, "sha qi" (likely referring to dampness/miasma), and wind-inducing foods for one month. Sexual intercourse is particularly forbidden. Externally, avoid beef, distilled liquor, soft-shell turtle, etc., for two to three years. Buckwheat noodles and mutton should be avoided for life. For early-stage Chancre (*Yangmei Chuang*), healing can occur in five to six days. However, only 4-5 qian of mercury per portion is needed. For treating bone-eating chancre (*Zugan Gan Chuang*), throat ulceration, or widespread tinea-like eruptions (*Niupi Chuang Xuan*), follow the medium-treatment method described above. For chronic ulcers where the lesion site is difficult to apply ointment, apply to the soles of the feet instead, following the medium-treatment method, and cover with cloth and plaster as before. From the first day of self-application, take the subsequent Baidu San (Antitoxic Powder); stop when oral symptoms appear on the seventh day.
Twenty-Four Herb Antitoxic Powder (Used alongside the Mercury Ointment)
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix), Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix), Rendong (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Baixianpi (Dictamni Cortex), Yiren (Coicis Semen), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Fencacao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata), Huangbo (Phellodendri Cortex), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma).
For each dose, add 4 liang of dried Tufuling (Smilacis Glabrae Rhizoma) or half a jin (500g) of fresh Tufuling. Use six bowls of water, decoct to three bowls, divide into three doses, and take one bowl each morning, noon, and evening. For the last four herbs (Huangbo, Zhimu, Zhizi, Huanglian), observe the patient's Yin/Yang and Cold/Heat patterns and use them judiciously.
Note: The aforementioned Mercury Ointment penetrates everywhere in the sinews, bones, meridians, and collaterals. It can both expel toxins and kill parasites. If used to treat Elephantiasis (*Dama Feng*), it would surely have miraculous effects, but it has not been tested, so it is recorded here for future trials. It might be even better to combine it with suitable decoctions listed under the Elephantiasis category. If it succeeds in saving lives, the merit would be immense.
Chancre Paper-Interposing Plaster
Huangzhan (Yellow Beeswax) (5 liang), Feidan (Mineral Lead Oxide), Qianfen (Basic Lead Carbonate) (each 4 liang), Qingfen (Calomel), Ruxiang (Olibanum), Moyao (Myrrha) (each 2 qian), Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum) (3 fen), Mayou (Sesami Oleum) (2 liang in spring/summer, 3 liang in autumn/winter).
First, boil the Huangzhan and oil for five to six boils. Add Ruxiang and Moyao, boil for another two to three times. Add Qingfen, then immediately add Feidan and Qianfen. Stir with a locust or willow branch for over ten boils. Remove and let cool to solidify. Then add Bingpian and stir evenly. Store in a bottle and soak in water overnight to remove "fire toxicity." First, wash the sore clean with bitter tea. Spread the plaster thickly on thin oiled paper pierced with holes. Apply to the front and back alternately every other day. Change every three days. Three applications will suffice for healing.
Shouchuang San (Ulcer-Closing Powder): Treats various wet and rotting sores where flesh has flattened but does not close, and various toxic sores where internal flesh has healed but the opening remains uncontracted. This is highly effective.
Huashi (Talcum), Chishizhi (Halloysitum Rubrum) (both calcined/flown, 1 liang and 5 qian respectively), Fencacao (Prepared Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (3 qian).
Grind into powder. Apply dry, or mix with Sesame Oil for topical application. Alternatively, add 1 qian of Kufan (Calcined Alumen); this is especially suitable for itching. If itching is severe, indicating parasites, first grind 3-4 qian of Shuiyin (Mercurius) with 2 qian of Songxiang (Pini Resina) until uniform, then mix with the previous powder and apply.
