A total of thirty-eight prescriptions are recorded, merely prepared to accommodate the common patterns of malaria syndromes. As for variations caused by Qi and climate shifts, which were not thoroughly elucidated by ancient sages, how dare I speculate rashly? Perhaps these ideas can be used as a basis for modification and application. Thus, many prescriptions within the realm are worthy of selection; truly understanding their divine principles depends entirely on the practitioner. Regarding the selection of medicinal materials, following the methods of ancients involves not only examining regional differences and distinguishing climatic conditions but also stocking substances nurtured according to the annual cycle to meet needs over a twelve-year period (Ji). Otherwise, one risks losing the specialized potency of herbs, making it difficult to address complex situations such as contrary or counteracting treatments, thereby falling into the dilemma of struggling with tonification and purgation. Therefore, Lei Gong meticulously processed medicines to compensate for the insufficiency of raw herbs; if these standards were discarded, or if inferior materials were encountered, it would be akin to striking a sharp weapon with a wooden stick—how could this be feasible!
**Main Prescription for Malaria:**
The dosages of various prescriptions have been reduced from ancient formulas, some by two-thirds, others by four-fifths. If further adjustments are desired, one must carefully assess the severity of the syndrome to determine additions or subtractions. However, larger formulas tend to cure major diseases easily, while smaller formulas may struggle with minor ailments.
