To promote the eruption of smallpox.
Salty and hot, with toxicity. Treats inverted smallpox lesions. (According to *Discourse on Smallpox and Rashes*: refers to cases where the rash erupts slowly and appears black and depressed; administer one qian mixed with pig's blood; for those whose lesions invert due to blood stasis caused by cooling medicines, administer mixed with musk and wine. Teeth are the surplus of bone, possessing a yang-gang nature, serving as a decisive remedy for smallpox.) [It treats] latent toxins in the heart. Dizziness and unconsciousness. And for those with qi deficiency, tonify deficiency and detoxify. Misuse often leads to incurable conditions. Reduces fire toxin. Grind into fine powder, process by water levigation.
To purge heat.
Sweet and cold, enters the Stomach meridian. Clears phlegm-fire. Eliminates food stagnation. Purges excess heat in the five zang organs. Treats yang-toxic heat mania. Blood-heat in smallpox. Black, depressed, and non-elevating lesions. Contraindicated in Shaoyang syndrome without Yangming excess heat. Contraindicated in smallpox that is not purple-black and dry. Use a bamboo tube, scrape off the green skin, insert licorice root powder inside. (Some use soap pod powder instead.) Plug the hole tightly. Soak in a dung pit during winter. Retrieve in spring. Wash and hang in a ventilated place. Dry in shade and take the powder.
Also known as Feces Clear Liquid.
Main indications are the same as Renzhonghuang. Use brown cotton paper, spread yellow earth on top, filter fecal juice through it. Pour into a new jar, cover with a bowl. Bury in the earth for one year. Clear as spring water. Completely devoid of foul odor. Superior to Renzhonghuang. The older, the better.
Also known as Urine Sediment. Descends fire and clears blood stasis.
Salty and cool. Descends fire and disperses stasis. Treats epistaxis due to lung blood stasis. Consumptive fever and thirst. Inverted smallpox lesions. Gum disease and mouth ulcers. Contraindicated in yang deficiency without fire, indigestion, and loose bowels. The best source is sediment scraped from chamber pots of children in private schools or urinals of old monks in mountains. Roasted over a new tile.
Also known as Yuanhui Water, drinking one's own urine is called Huilun Jiu. Descends fire and clears blood stasis.
Salty and cold. Can guide lung fire downward to exit via the Bladder. This is its original path. Descends fire and nourishes yin very rapidly. Moistens lungs and clears blood stasis. (Salty flavors enter the blood.) Treats lung萎 (withering lung) with loss of voice. Hematemesis and epistaxis due to trauma. (For any falls or blows causing blood obstruction and near-death state,灌 (irrigate/pour) with hot urine; consciousness returns immediately upon swallowing. All metal wounds and beatings are suitable for this treatment; it does not damage the zang-fu organs. If other medicines are used, it may harm those without stasis.) Retained placenta. (All due to the effect of dispersing stasis.) For postpartum blood syncope. Defeated blood entering the lungs. Yin-deficiency fire cough. Heat blazing like fire. Only this medicine can treat these. (Chu Cheng's *Laoji Lun* states: descends fire very quickly, descends blood miraculously. Note: although this substance is foul-smelling and damages the stomach, it still surpasses various cold-cooling medicines.) Contraindications are the same as Renzhongbai. Take urine from boys under twelve years old. (Few desires, no ministerial fire.) Do not eat meat or fish. Discard the beginning and end portions. Use the middle section. Use only that which is clear as water. Should be drunk hot. When hot, true qi remains; its action is swift. When cold, it possesses only salty-cold properties. (Shicai said: Processed Qiushi loses true yuan qi gradually, far inferior to Tongbian.) Or add ginger juice. (To move phlegm.) Leek juice. (To disperse stasis.) In winter, warm with decoction.
