[Name] Goushi (Dog Lice), Fangjing (Square Stem). [Seedling] (Illustrated Classic states) Jusheng and Huma have similar appearances. Tao Hongjing said: The one with a round stem is Huma; the one with a square stem is Jusheng. Su Gong said: The fruit forming pods with eight edges is named Jusheng; those with six or four edges are named Huma. Thus, Huma and Jusheng are two different substances. However, among the eight grains, it is the most abundant, hence named Jusheng (Great Abundance). Guangya states: Goushi is Jusheng. Ge Chichuan also said: Among Huma, the variety with one leaf and two pods is Jusheng. Currently, according to seasonal usage, the one with flat and small seeds inside the pod having three edges is Huma, while the slightly larger, four-edged, and square one is Jusheng. [Region] (Illustrated Classic states) Grows in the streams and marshes of Shangdang; now found everywhere, mostly cultivated in gardens, rarely wild (Authentic Origin).
