Fish meat mainly warms the middle and benefits qi; excessive consumption causes heat in the middle and thirst (Bencao Gangmu). [Name] Silver carp (Lishi Zhen said): The finest wine is called... The finest fish is called... (Lu Dian said): It likes to swim in groups with each other, hence called "connected", therefore called silver carp (Chuan said): Fish belonging to this group swim in a connected manner, which is correct. [Location] Found everywhere. [Time] (Harvest) No specific time. [Use] Meat. [Quality/Characteristics] Shape resembles [missing character/context implies similar fish] but with a small head, flat body, fine scales, and fat belly. Thus (Xi Zheng Fu said): Beautiful bream leap with flashing scales, white... losing water easily dies, this is a weak fish. There are also flower silver carp. [Color] Very white. [Taste] Sweet.
