甘草共为末。调敷湿癣良。胃虚者忌服。亦名象胆。
(Fumigatum Resina) Bitter in taste. Enters the Foot Jueyin (Liver) Meridian. Its function is specifically to break blood stasis and relieve pain. When combined with Frankincense (Ruxiang), it treats swelling and pain caused by falls and injuries. When combined with Tiger Tibia Bone (Hujingggu), it treats Li-jie Wind-Pain (painful joint syndrome). Contraindicated for pregnant women.
(Bitter in taste. Enters the Hand Taiyin (Lung) Meridian. Its function is specifically to treat urticaria and severe skin itching. When combined with Clam Powder (Ge Fen) and Ginger Juice, it treats hematemesis and epistaxis. An important item in surgery. Also known as Baijiao.)

Its function is specifically to unblock orifices and promote circulation, dispel dampness, and kill parasites. Placed in shoe soles to treat tinea pedis (Hong Kong foot). When combined with Sichuan Pepper (Huajiao) and Sesame Seed (Zhimai) into a powder, after washing a child's alopecia capitis (tinea capitis) with pork-rinsing water, applying the powder is effective.)
(Pungent, sweet, and warm in taste. Enters the Hand Taiyin (Lung) and Foot Jueyin (Liver) Meridians. Its function is specifically to calm the spirit and expel evil qi. When combined with Storax (Anxi Xiang) and other aromatics, Long Pepper (Bibo), Chebula (Hezi), Cinnabar (Zhusha), and Rhinoceros Horn (Xijiao - *note: use illegal/historical context*), it treats Chuan-shi Gui-zhu (consumptive disease/tuberculosis).*

Specifically eliminates blood pain. Treats metal weapon wounds, fractures, and non-healing ulcers. Relieves pain and generates flesh, yet promotes pus discharge. Do not use in large doses. Contraindicated for those without blood stasis. For ingrown toenails and bloody hemorrhoids, apply powder externally. For epistaxis, insufflate powder into the nose; both are effective. Also known as Qilinjie / Dragon's Blood.)
