Jiang (soy milk), Mo (foam), Zha (dregs), Pi (skin/curd sheet), Ru (fermented bean curd), Guoba (pot crust), Gan shui (washing water), Mahu Fu (sesame paste)
In the "Collected Explanations" note for Tofu in Li Shizhen's *Bencao Gangmu* (*Compendium of Materia Medica*), it is stated: The tofu skin (Fu Pi) can be used in cuisine, but the soy milk (Jiang) and fermented tofu (Ru) are omitted. Furthermore, Sesame (Huma) can also be made into tofu, yet this is also omitted in the *Bencao Gangmu* under the Sesame entry. I now supplement all these, collectively naming them "Fu".
Soy Milk (Fu Jiang)
Taste: Sweet with a slight salty flavor; Nature: Neutral. Functions: Clears the throat, removes greasiness, and resolves toxicity from brine coagulants (such as magnesium chloride). According to *Yao Xing Kao* (*Record of Drug Properties*): Taste is sweet with a slight bitter note; Nature is cool. Functions: Clears heat, directs qi downward, and promotes urination.
**Prescription for Taiyang Disease (Cold Damage) with no sweating for ten days**: Zhang Qingzi's Excellent Prescription: Use one large bowl of uncoagulated soy milk, mix in high-quality white honey, heat, and drink. Sweating will ensue, leading to recovery. This is remarkably effective.
**For Hong Kong Foot (Podagra/Gouty arthritis presenting as swelling and pain making walking difficult)**: Apply hot soy milk mixed with powdered Pine Rosin (Song Xiang) evenly to the affected area. After overnight application, walking ability returns, preventing future recurrence.
**Blood in Stool**: *Gu Jin Liang Fang* (*Excellent Formulas Ancient and Modern*): Take one or half a jin (approx. 500g) of Water Chestnut (Biqi). Mix with one large bowl of undiluted soy milk. Heat the soy milk to boiling. Crush the water chestnuts to extract juice, and pour this juice into the hot soy milk while still warm. Drink immediately.
**Salt-induced Asthma (Yan Xiao)**: *Jiu Sheng Ku Hai* (*Sea of Bitterness for Saving Lives*): Add a small amount of sugar to soy milk. Take one bowl every morning on an empty stomach without interruption. Recovery occurs after over one hundred days.
**Treatment for Jaundice**: Liu Yuyi's Verified Formula: Consume one bowl of raw, cold soy milk every morning on an empty stomach. Repeat four to five times for self-healing. Avoid eating raw radishes.
**Phlegm-Fire Roaring Asthma**: *Jing Yan Guang Ji* (*Extensive Collection of Experienced Prescriptions*): Take two liang (approx. 62.5g) of Malt Sugar (YiTang) and one bowl of soy milk. Boil until dissolved and consume in one dose for recovery.
**Treatment for Consumption (Lao Bing) and Spontaneous Sweating**: *Hui Sheng Ji Fang* (*Formulas for Reviving Life*): Clean black beans thoroughly, grind them into soy milk, and boil in a pot until cooked. A skin will form on top. Consume one sheet of this skin, washed down with hot black bean soy milk, for immediate effect. Drinking black soy milk every morning greatly benefits the body and prevents consumption diseases.
**Lung Abscess (Fei Yong) and Lung Flaccidity (Fei Wei)**: Use aged Mustard Green Brine (Jie Cai Lu). Mix half a wine glass of this brine with soy milk daily. After ingestion, a sensation of blockage will move up and down in the chest. After several such episodes, foul pus will be expectorated. Continue daily administration until cured.
**Metrorrhagia (Xue Beng - Profuse Uterine Bleeding)**: *Bu Yao Liang Fang* (*Excellent Prescription Without Medicine*): Mix one bowl of raw soy milk with half a bowl of raw Chinese Chive Juice. Consume once or twice on an empty stomach.
**Wu Miao Tang (Five Wonders Decoction) for Postpartum Conditions and Weakness**: Transmitted by Yu Wenhu: Take one bowl of first-batch soy milk, one sheet of tofu skin, and one raw egg beaten up. Pour into the soy milk. Add fourteen Longan Arils (Gui Yuan Rou) and one liang (approx. 31.25g) of white sugar. Boil together and consume. Eat at dawn on an empty stomach.
Chen Tingqing stated: Soy milk enters the Yin aspect, clearing fire and promoting urination to resolve turbidity. For strangury (Lin Zheng), mixing Liu Yi San (Six-One Powder) with soy milk is excellent. Mixing with egg and white sugar at dawn calms coughs and nourishes blood. Cantonese people cook soy milk into porridge, called Sweet Porridge (Tian Jiang Zhou), which greatly tonifies deficiency and emaciation.
**Tofu Foam (Fu Mo)**
This is the foam that forms on the surface of the water remaining from tofu production. It treats Tinea Manuum/Pedis (Goose Palm Tinea), characterized by peeling skin on palms and soles exposing flesh and blood. Washing with hot foam cures it.
**Tofu Dregs (Fu Zha)**
These are the residues left after making tofu, usually fed to pigs. For medicinal use, raw dregs must be employed.
**Treatment for All Malignant Sores and Unnamed Swellings/Venom**: Highly effective. *Bu Yao Liang Fang*: Bake tofu dregs in a clay pot until hot. Shape into cakes according to the size of the red/swollen area and apply as a plaster. Replace when cool. Continue until healed.

Cleanse with clear tea, dry with silk cloth, then apply the dreg cake and bind with cloth. Change once daily. The sore gradually shrinks, and tissue flattens. This formula was personally tested and proven effective by Fei Qizhang. It can also be applied to foot ulcers caused by insects/maggots.
**Foot Ulcers with Water Pores and Wet/Rotten Skin**: *Bu Yao Liang Fang*: Apply tofu dregs for three days for cure. Keep away from raw water.

Use dregs containing unfiltered liquid. Stir-fry in a pot with water until dry, then grind to powder. Take three qian (approx. 9g) per dose. If bloody clots are present, take with brown sugar water. Three times daily. Even in chronic, critical cases, this is miraculously effective.

**Treatment for Strangury/Turbid Urine and Blood Tonification**: *Ci Hang Huo Ren Shu* contains Wu Xiao Wan (Five Efficacy Pills): Take one liang (approx. 31.25g) of tofu pot crust and one qian (approx. 3.1g) of Coptis Rhizome (Chuan Lian). Pound together and roll into pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take five qian (approx. 15g) per dose. For red leukorrhea, swallow with honey-boiled water. For white leukorrhea, take with brown sugar water. For heat-strangury with hematuria, take with plain water. For intestinal wind bleeding, take with aged wine.
