[Invention] Li Shizhen stated: According to "Baopuzi, Inner Chapters", in the manor of Chancellor Zhang Wenwei, there was a burrow of a shuye lang (a type of animal). Its four offspring were swallowed by a snake. The male and female shuye lang, bound by deep affection, blocked the burrow with earth outside. When the snake poked its head out, they bit it in half at the waist while it was inconvenient to turn back, split open its belly, and retrieved the four offspring, which still had breath. Placing them outside the burrow, they fetched bean leaves, chewed them, and applied the paste to the wounds; all the offspring survived. Later generations used bean leaves to treat snake bites, likely originating from this account.
