(Compendium of Materia Medica)
[Names] Li Shizhen stated: "Zhe" refers to the tracks left by chariots.
[Indications] Treats Yangfeng (a type of skin disease characterized sores and tinea). Collect water from chariot tracks on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month to wash the affected area; it is highly effective. Water collected in cow hooves can also be used (Li Shizhen).
(The Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing, Lower Grade)
[Names] Tao Hongjing stated: This is made by digging a pit three chi deep in yellow earth, pouring fresh well water into it to stir until turbid, and then taking the clear supernatant after a short while. Hence it is called Dijiang (Earth Slurry), also known as Tuping (Soil Slurry).
[Properties and Flavor] Sweet, cold, non-toxic.
[Indications] Relieves toxicity-induced restlessness and oppression (Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing). Resolves all toxins from meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, medicines, and various fungi. It treats Huoluan (cholera-like syndrome with vomiting and diarrhea) and sudden collapse/death; drinking one sheng is excellent (Li Shizhen).
[Elucidation] Tao Hongjing stated: Eating mushrooms growing on maple trees causes uncontrollable laughter; drinking this slurry resolves the toxicity.
Li Shizhen stated: According to Luo Tianyi's *Weisheng Baojian* (Precious Mirror for Health Preservation): Huoluan caused by heatstroke results from internal injury by summer-heat, leading to confusion of the Seven Spirits. Yin energy stabilizes when quiet, causing the Spirit organs to settle; it dissipates when agitated. Only the most Yin energy can cure this. Kun represents Earth, which belongs to Yin. Flat earth is termed "Jingshun" (Quiet and Obedient). Dijiang is made in pits dug in shady wall corners, representing "Yin within Yin," capable of draining "Yang within Yang" (summer-heat pathogenic factor).
[Attached Prescriptions] One old prescription, six new prescriptions.
Heat, thirst, restlessness, and oppression: Drink one zhan of Dijiang (*Taiping Shenghui Fang*).
Dry Huoluan: Symptoms include inability to vomit or defecate, abdominal distension, pain, and feeling as if dying. Take three to five zhan of Dijiang to recover. Rice soup is strictly prohibited (*Qianjin Fang*).
Restlessness and confusion due to excessive medication dosage: Drink Dijiang (*Zhouhou Beiji Fang*).
Poisoning from closed-mouth pepper causing white foam vomiting: Body cold, near death. Drink Dijiang (Zhang Zhongjing, *Jingui Yaolue*).
Wild taro poisoning: Drink Tuping (*Jijian Fang*).
Yellow fish poisoning: Consuming this fish while violating restrictions on Schizonepeta (Jingjie) harms the body. Taking Dijiang resolves it (*Jijian Fang*).
Arsenic poisoning: Mix Dijiang with lead powder and take orally; detoxification occurs immediately (*Jixuan Fang*).
