[Chishizhi] (Red Halloysite)
The qi is greatly warm. The taste is sweet, sour, and acrid. It is non-toxic. It primarily nourishes the Heart Qi (vital energy of the Heart). It brightens the eyes and benefits Jing (Essence). It treats abdominal pain and intestinal dysentery with passage of red and white pus and blood. It promotes free urination. It treats carbuncles, sores, ulcers, and hemorrhoids. For women, it treats metrorrhagia (sudden heavy bleeding from the uterus) and leukorrhea with continuous dripping. It treats difficult labor where the placenta fails to be expelled. Long-term consumption replenishes marrow, improves complexion, enhances intelligence, prevents hunger, lightens the body, and prolongs life. (Corresponds to the Fire element)
Chishizhi has a greatly warm qi, inheriting the Wood and Fire qi of heaven's spring and summer seasons. It enters the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian and the Hand Jueyin Pericardium Meridian. Its taste is sweet, sour, and acrid, and it is non-toxic, deriving from the Earth, Wood, and Metal flavors of the earth's east and west directions. It enters the Foot Yangming Dry Metal Stomach Earth and the Hand Yangming Dry Metal Large Intestine. Its aroma and flavor rise more than they descend; it is Yang. The Pericardium is the "Official of the Envoy," from which joy and pleasure arise; it is the residence that acts on behalf of the Monarch (Heart). Chishizhi's sour and warm nature soothes and unblocks the Pericardium, allowing the Qi of the Heart Monarch to be nourished. The Liver opens into the eyes; its acrid and warm nature ensures smooth and penetrating flow, harmonizing the Liver and brightening the eyes. Jing is the brilliance of the Yin Qi of the Five Zang Organs. Sweet and sour tastes can benefit Yin, thus benefiting Jing and supplementing marrow. The abdomen is the pathway of the Taiyin Meridian; Taiyin belongs to Damp Earth. If the Earth is damp and cold, pain occurs. Chishizhi is warm in nature; warmth can move cold and dispel dampness, hence it treats this condition. The Stomach and Large Intestine belong to Yangming Dry Metal. If Yang deficiency fails to maintain dryness, intestinal diarrhea occurs. Chishizhi possesses warming, acrid, and astringent properties, thus treating diarrhea and frequent urination. Astringency can secure against collapse/loss. All pains, itching, sores, and ulcers belong to Heart Fire. Fire has excess and deficiency patterns; excess fire can be drained, while deficient fire can be tonified. The Pericardium acts on behalf of the Monarch; its sour and warm nature can tonify the Fire of the Pericardium. The Liver stores Blood. If Liver Blood is not stored properly, metrorrhagia, difficult labor, and retention of the placenta occur. Sweet and sour tastes can store Liver Blood, and warm nature can reach/unblock Liver Qi, hence it treats these conditions. Long-term consumption tonifies the Yangming Meridian, which runs over the face, thus improving complexion. The Kidney is the organ of reserve and stores wisdom; sour astringency benefits Yin, thus enhancing intelligence. When Yangming Stomach Qi is abundant, one does not feel hungry and life is prolonged.
