It treats dysentery with pus and blood, tonifies the Middle Jiao (Central Digestive System), repairs severe injuries and fractures, treats metal weapon wounds (Jin Chuang), supplements Qi, prevents hunger, and delays aging. White wax treats chronic diarrhea, tenesmus (feeling of incomplete defecation), passage of white pus, repairs severe injuries, and benefits children. Long-term consumption makes the body light and prevents hunger. It grows in the valleys of Wudu. It is found between the wood and stones of honeycombs. It is incompatible with Daphne Genkwa (Yuan Hua) and Viverrida shells (Zhen Ge).
This is honeycomb wax, born within honey, hence called "Honeycomb Wax". Bees first use this substance as the base for honey; it can also be obtained when boiling honey. Initially, it is extremely fragrant and soft; if people boil it for about a day, it naturally turns white; if used urgently, it can also be melted and washed in water more than ten times until it becomes white. Secular prescriptions only use it to compound pills for lower body ailments, whereas the "Immortal Scripture" considers it most essential for grain avoidance (Bigu). Nowadays, people simply chew pieces of one square inch, which also keeps them from feeling hungry for a day. (From *Daguan Bencao*, Vol. 20; *Zhenghe Bencao*, p. 412)

The previous text directly mentions "bee larvae," which should refer to honeybee larvae; they are taken when they have not yet developed heads and legs, stir-fried, and eaten; or soaked in wine and applied to the face to make the complexion fair and white. Yellow hornet larvae...
[White Glue / Deer Horn Gelatin]
Sweet in taste, neutral to warm in nature, non-toxic. It treats injury to the Middle Jiao, consumptive diseases, lumbar pain, emaciation, tonifies the Middle and supplements Qi, and treats amenorrhea due to blood stasis leading to infertility. It stops pain and calms the fetus. It treats hematemesis (vomiting blood), hematochezia (blood in stool), metrorrhagia and metrostaxis (uterine bleeding) that does not stop, soreness and pain in the four limbs, excessive sweating, stranguria with leakage, and traumatic injuries from falls and fractures. Long-term consumption lightens the body and prolongs life.
Also known as Deer Horn Gelatin (Lujiao Jiao). Produced in Yunzhong, made by boiling deer horns. (Benefits from fire, incompatible with Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Da Huang).)
People nowadays rarely boil it to make glue; it is only used for making horn bows, though it is still referred to as using this glue. Its use in medical prescriptions is rare, but Daoists often require it. The method for making white glue is to first soak the horns in rice water for seven days until soft, then boil and decoct, similar to the method for making Ejiao. Another method is to finely chop the horns and boil them with a piece of dried cowhide; the horns will dissolve and rot. Otherwise, they repel each other, and it would take a hundred years to cook them thoroughly. (From *Xinxiu Bencao*, p. 192; *Daguan Bencao*, Vol. 16; *Zhenghe Bencao*, p. 371)
