Muraeniform Fish (Monopterus albus): Sweet in flavor, toxic. It treats the five types of hemorrhoids (hemorrhoidal diseases affecting five specific areas), sores, and kills various parasites.
It can climb trees to eat vine flowers; its shape resembles an eel. When caught, it is used as food. When roasted and smoked over various woods and bamboos, it repels wood-boring insects. Its grease treats various sores. There is another similar fish, but shorter. (Da Guan Bencao, Vol. 21; Zhenghe Bencao, p. 431)
Male Muraeniform Fish: Slightly toxic. It primarily benefits essence and qi, strengthens sexual function, prevents fatigue during intercourse, and also stops seminal emission. Feces: Warm in nature, non-toxic. It treats intestinal borborygmus, heat in the middle jiao, xiaoke disease (wasting-thirst syndrome), wind-bi syndrome, and urticaria.
The original silkworm refers to those reared for a second time, commonly known as Wei silkworms in the world. Daoists use their moths to stop seminal emission, and their old cocoons are used with Atractylodis Rhizoma (Baizhu). The feces, named Can Sha (Silkworm Excrement), are widely used in various prescriptions, not merely for hot compress therapy against wind pathogens. (Da Guan Bencao, Vol. 21; Zhenghe Bencao, p. 429)
Camel Hair: Salty in flavor, neutral in nature, toxic. It treats Gui Zhu (ghostly infection), Gu poison (poisoning from gu magic), alternating chills and fever, Jing Xian Jing Yuan (convulsions due to fright and epilepsy), Dian Ji (schizophrenia-like disorders), and Kuang Zou (manic running). Camel hair is particularly effective.
The "Six Domestic Animals" refer to horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs, and chickens; mules and donkeys also belong to this category. Camels originate from foreign lands, and physicians no longer commonly use them. Moreover, the hairs and hooves of horses, cattle, sheep, chickens, pigs, and dogs have already been listed in their respective anatomical categories, so their therapeutic indications need not all be identical to this entry. (Xinxiu Bencao, Vol. 21)
Placenta (Bao Yi): Neutral. It treats difficult labor where the placenta fails to expel.
For difficult childbirth, bowstrings were tied around the waist; or the arrowhead of a crossbow was heated red and drunk in wine. These methods symbolize the meaning of releasing tension and acting quickly. (Da Guan Bencao, Vol...)
Pangolin Scales (Chuan Shan Jia Lin Jia): Neutral. It treats Gu poisoning.
Here, the shed scales of the pangolin are used, burned into powder and taken with water. The patient will then call out the name of the Gu master, who must then go and summon the Gu to extract it, resulting in recovery. White lotus leaves and flowers have similar effects.) (...)
Alligator (Tuo): Slightly cold. It treats惊啼悲伤 (frightened crying and sorrow caused by various pathogenic factors). Burned into ash, mixed with wine or water, and taken as one cun bi (a traditional measure), it treats Yi Xia (abdominal masses feeling like ants crawling).
Its shape resembles an alligator but is smaller, and like a carp, it has four feet and can live on land and in water. It appears on the bank, opening its scales, lying still as if dead, allowing ants to enter, and then suddenly closing... (Da Guan Bencao, Vol. 22; Zhenghe Bencao, p. 454)
