Its symptoms manifest as tumors-like swellings that wander throughout the body, appearing in the morning and causing death by evening. Prick the Weizhong (BL40) acupoint with a three-edged needle to a depth of one cun to induce bleeding, and administer Renzhonghuang San (Human Excrement Yellow Powder). (Weizhong (BL40) is located in the center of the popliteal crease when the leg is flexed, directly opposite the knee.)
Renzhonghuang San (Human Excrement Yellow Powder)
Renzhonghuang (Cinnabarized Human Excrement Yellow, 1 liang) Mingxionghuang (Realgar, 1 liang) Zhusha (Cinnabar, 1 liang)
Grind all into fine powder. Take 2 qian with a decoction of Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba) and Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), three times during the day and twice at night.
Xiaodu Wan (Detoxification Pill) Treats severe epidemic nodular diseases.
Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) Muli (Ostreae Concha) Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, soaked to remove saliva and stir-fried, 1 liang each)
Grind into fine powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of a bullet. Dissolve one pill in fresh cold water and take it at any time.
Its symptoms include clear, white diarrhea and difficulty moving the feet (this is known as Shiwenzhong/Dampness Epidemic). Cangzhu Baizhu Tang (Atractylodis Rhizoma and White Tiger Decoction) is suitable. (This is Baizhu Tang [White Tiger Decoction] added with Cangzhu [Atractylodis Rhizoma].)
(Also known as Sha disease.)
Symptoms include borborygmus, dry retching, or watery diarrhea. If qi circulation is blocked, induce vomiting by probing; Shuangjie San (Double-Release Powder) is suitable. There are two types: Yin Sha and Yang Sha.
Yin Sha: Abdominal pain, cold hands and feet, red spots on the body. Use a rush light dipped in oil, ignite it, and cauterize the red spots.
Yang Sha: Intestinal pain, warm hands and feet.
Prick the Shaoshang (LU11) acupoint and the ten fingertips near the nails. (Needling method seen previously. This needling method is effective for treating various cases of heatstroke, cholera, throat diseases, etc.)
Yinyang Shui (Yin-Yang Water) Formula
Boiling water (one cup) Cold water (one cup)
Mix and drink immediately for recovery, or add a little fried salt for better effect.
Guanyin Jiuku Dan (Guanyin Saving Suffering Pill) Grind and apply to the corners of the eyes two or three times; also treats various throat conditions. Hold a piece the size of wheat in the mouth until dissolved and swallowed. For all swelling toxins, malignant sores, snake or scorpion bites, grind with saliva and apply to the affected area.
Huoxiao (Saltpeter/Niter, 1 liang) Baifan (Alumen, 4 liang) Huangdan (Minium, 2 liang) Zhusha (Cinnabar) Mingxionghuang (Realgar, 5 fen each. The above two formulas also treat Yin and Yang Sha.)
Grind finely, dissolve with water using a spoon, wait until slightly cool, roll into small sticks, and store in porcelain containers for use. (Keep airtight.)
Dijiang (Earth Slurry) Dig a pit in the shady side of the south wall, pour in a jar of cold water and stir, wait for it to clarify, and drink the supernatant.
Another formula: Take 2 qian of raw Baifan (Alumen) powder, mix with half a cup of cold water and half a cup of boiling water, and take orally.
Another formula: Take 1–2 sheng of Lüdou (Vigna radiata seeds), boil with 2–3 buckets of water to make a decoction, store in a large urn, and have the patient wash with it. When slightly cool, immerse the whole body in the urn until thoroughly soaked; this may provide slight relief. Do not rush to get out; this is effective.
Shuangjie San (Double-Release Powder) (This is Fangfeng Tongsheng San [Saposhnikovia and Peony Powder to Unblock the Heroic Path]. If there is diarrhea, remove Mangxiao [Natrii Sulfas] and Dahuang [Rhei Radix et Rhizoma]; if there is spontaneous sweating, remove Mahuang [Ephedrae Herba] and add Guizhi [Cinnamomi Ramulus]; if there is phlegm-cough, add Jiangbanxia [Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum with Ginger].)

In Shuangjie San from *Yifang Jijie* (Collection of Medical Formulas), Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) and Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) are removed, and Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus) are used as guides for decoction. (The above four formulas specifically treat Yang Sha.)
