Stomach is affected by dryness-heat, leading to the depletion of body fluids (Jin-Ye), excessive thirst, and rapid digestion of food. The primary formula for treatment is Yushi Qingwei Tang (Jade Stone Stomach-Clearing Decoction).
Yushi Qingwei Tang (Self-made Formula)
Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma (Yuzhu, 3 qian)
Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao, 4 qian)
Trichosanthis Radix (Huafen, 2 qian)
Dendrobii Caulis (Shihu, 3 qian)
Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shengdi, 5 qian)
Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen, 1 qian)
Ophiopogonis Radix (Maidong, 2 qian)
Concha Meretricis et Cyclinae (Gafen, 4 qian)
Dioscoreae Rhizoma (Shanyao, 3 qian)
Poria (Fuling, 2 qan)
Saccharum Officinarum Juice (Ganzhe Zhi, half cup, taken with decoction)
This formula clears the stomach heat. It uses Yuzhu, Shigao, and Ganzhe Zhi to replenish body fluids and relieve thirst. The sweet and cold nature of Ganzhe Zhi replaces the bitter and cold nature of Zhimu. Renshen, Maidong, Shanyao, and Fuling are used to protect the righteous qi of the spleen and stomach. Shihu, Huafen, Shengdi, and Gafen assist Shigao, Yuzhu, and Ganzhe Zhi in achieving comprehensive efficacy. Shengdi protects the kidney; the combination of Shengdi and Maidong embodies the principle of Metal generating Water (Jin Shui Xiang Sheng). Gafen is used to resolve dry phlegm. The use of Yuzhu, Maidong, Shihu, Fuling, and Gafen follows the same logic as the Qingjin Baofei Tang (Clear Metal and Protect Lung Decoction) used when the lungs are affected by dryness-heat. The use of Renshen, Shanyao, Shengdi, and Liaodou follows the same logic as the Zexia Tang (Moistening Lower Jiao Decoction) used when the spleen is affected by dryness-heat. The method of clearing stomach heat is perfect and complete. Note by Zuyi.
The small intestine is affected by dryness-heat, preventing the proper distribution of essence from water and grain, resulting in painful and difficult urination. The primary formula for treatment is Ziyin Runzao Tang (Nourishing Yin and Moistening Dryness Decoction).

Asparagi Radix (Tian Dong, 1.5 qian)
Ophiopogonis Radix (Maidong, 1.5 qian)
Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Danshen, 2 qian)
Scrophulariae Radix (Yuanshen, 1.5 qian)
Corium Corii Asini (Ejiao, 1.5 qian, stir-fried with Concha Meretricis et Cyclinae powder)
Moutan Cortex (Danpi, 1.5 qian)
Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Niuxi, 1.5 qian)
Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie, 1.5 qian)
Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shengdi, 5 qian)
Electrum (Hupo, 1 qian)
Cyperus Spadix (Dengxin, 3 chi)
The small intestine, as a fire organ, is invaded by dryness, depleting yin and consuming blood; the harm is urgent, like burning. Tian Dong, Maidong, Ejiao, and Shengdi, although not specific herbs for the small intestine, have significant power in nourishing yin and tonifying blood. Hupo, Danshen, Yuanshen, Danpi, Dengxin, Zexie, and Niuxi are used to promote urination, drain ministerial fire, and guide the pathogenic factors out through the bladder and large intestine, thereby resolving the dryness-fire of the small intestine (Formulas for small intestine fire also use Tian Dong, Maidong, Hupo, Danshen, Shengdi, Danpi, and Dengxin, which can be cross-referenced), thus calming the affected organ.
