(Wang Yinjun) uses Qingmengshi (Lapis Aurichalci, 青礞石), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 大黄), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩), and Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum, 沉香). A hundred diseases are often caused by phlegm; this formula is capable of correcting stubborn and bizarre phlegmatic syndromes. [Qingmengshi (Lapis Aurichalci, 青礞石) one liang (mixed with Yanxiao (Natrii Nitratis, 焰硝) one liang, placed in a clay pot, sealed with salt mud, and calcined until the stone turns golden color); Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 大黄) steamed with wine and Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩) washed with wine, each eight liang; Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum, 沉香) five qian. Grind into powder, make water pills, take with ginger decoction, adjust dosage according to deficiency or excess. Qingmengshi is fierce and potent, able to attack accumulated and hidden phlegm; Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 大黄) purges heat and excess, opening the pathway downward; Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩) cools the heart and lungs, calming rebellious fire; Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum, 沉香) regulates the movement of qi, guiding the other herbs, serving as the envoy herb. However, it should not be administered lightly unless the patient's constitution is robust.]
(The "Huoren" Book) Qianhu (Peucedani Radix, 前胡), Xixin (Asari Radix, 细辛), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 半夏), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba, 荆芥), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 甘草), and Chifuling (Poria cum Ligno, 赤茯苓) work together. Decoct with Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 生姜) and Dazao (Jujubae Fructus, 大枣) to eliminate phlegm and cough, treating head and eye pain caused by lung invasion of wind-cold. [Xuanjinhua (Inulae Flos, 旋覆花), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix, 前胡), Xixin (Asari Radix, 细辛) each one qian; Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 半夏) five fen; Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba, 荆芥) half a qian; Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 甘草) roasted three fen; Chifuling (Poria cum Ligno, 赤茯苓) six fen. Wind-heat obstructs upward, generating phlegm and cough. Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba, 荆芥) induces sweating and disperses wind; Qianhu (Peucedani Radix, 前胡) and Xuanjinhua (Inulae Flos, 旋覆花) resolve phlegm and direct qi downward; Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 半夏) dries phlegm and directs rebellion downward; Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 甘草) disperses and moderates the middle; Xixin (Asari Radix, 细辛) warms the meridians; Fuling (Poria, 茯苓) promotes diuresis. Red Poria is used because it enters the blood level to clear Heart Fire (Bing-Ding).] The Bureau Formula (Jinfecao San / Goldenweed Powder) does not use Xixin (Asari Radix, 细辛) or Fuling (Poria, 茯苓), but adds Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, 麻黄) and Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra, 赤芍) in equal amounts. (Treating...) Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 白术) and Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata, 神曲) fried, each one qian; Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 人参), Huangqi (Astragali Radix, 黄芪), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 陈皮), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 苍术), Fuling (Poria, 茯苓), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, 泽泻), Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma, 天麻) each five fen; Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, 干姜) three fen; Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, 黄柏) washed with wine two fen. For Phlegm-Jue (Phlegm Obstruction Syndrome), only Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 半夏) can eliminate it; for Wind-Deficiency vertigo, only Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma, 天麻) can stabilize it. Ershu (Cangzhu and Baizhu) dry dampness and benefit qi; Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 人参) and Huangqi (Astragali Radix, 黄芪) clear fire and tonify the center; Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 陈皮) regulates qi and raises yang; Fuling (Poria, 茯苓) and Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, 泽泻) drain heat and guide water; Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata, 神曲) and Maiya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus, 麦芽) transform stagnation and assist the spleen; Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, 干姜) sweeps away middle jiao cold; Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, 黄柏) drains the ministerial fire in the lower jiao.]
(The "Bureau Formula") Take Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 知母) and Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus, 贝母), gather Wumei (Mume Fructus, 乌梅), Caoguo (Tsaoko Fructus, 草果), and Binglang (Arecae Semen, 槟榔). Decoct with ginger, jujube, rice wine, and water, then expose to dew overnight; its power to rob phlegm and arrest malaria is commendable. [Changshan (Dichroae Radix, 常山) fried with rice wine two qian; Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 知母), Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus, 贝母), Caoguo (Tsaoko Fructus, 草果) baked, Binglang (Arecae Semen, 槟lang) each one qian; Wumei (Mume Fructus, 乌梅) two pieces. One prescription adds Shanjia (Manis Squama, 穿山甲) and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 甘草). Take warm facing east before the malaria paroxysm begins. Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 知母) treats the exclusive excess heat of the Yangming channel; Caoguo (Tsaoko Fructus, 草果) treats the exclusive excess cold of the Taiyin channel. When these two channels are harmonized, yin and yang will not contend. Changshan (Dichroae Radix, 常山) induces vomiting to expel phlegm and move water; Binglang (Arecae Semen, 槟榔) descends qi and breaks accumulation; Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus, 贝母) clears fire and dissipates phlegm; Wumei (Mume Fructus, 乌梅) astringes yin and reduces fever. It is appropriate to use this after releasing exterior pathogens and raising pathogenic factors from the yang level.]
