(Yan's) Formula uses Banxia (Pinellia Rhizome), Gancao (Licorice Root), Juhong (Tangerine Peel), Renshen (Ginseng), and Fuling (Poria). With Zhuru (Bamboo Shavings), Shichangpu (Acorus Rhizome), and Zhishi (Immature Bitter Orange), it awakens the patient when phlegm confuses the mind and stiffens the tongue. [Treating stroke where phlegm confounds the heart orifices, causing a stiff tongue and inability to speak; Banxia (prepared with ginger) and Danxing (Arisaema cum Bile) each 2.5 qian, Juhong, Zhishi, and Fuling each 3 qian, Renshen and Shichangpu each 1 qian, Zhuru 0.7 qian, Gancao 0.5 qian, decocted with fresh ginger. This is Dao Tan Tang (Phlegm-Resolving Decoction) added with Renshen to support healthy qi, Shichangpu to open orifices and resolve phlegm, and Zhuru to clear lung heat.]
Xing (Arisaema) and Xia (Pinellia), along with Baifu (Typhonium Rhizome) and Chuanwu (Aconitum Carmiichaelii Radix Preparata), are all used in their raw state. Sun-dried and dew-exposed, made into paste pills, taken with thin ginger decoction, for wind-phlegm paralysis and pediatric convulsions. [Banxia (soaked in water, raw use, 1 liang), Xing (Arisaema, 2 liang), Baifu (Typhonium Rhizome, 2 liang), Chuanwu (devoid of skin and umbilicus, 5 qian). All four ingredients are used raw, ground into powder, placed in a bag, shaken in water to extract starch, then pounded again. For paralysis, take with wine; for convulsions, take with mint decoction. Phlegm is the primary pathogen, arising from wind-cold-dampness. Xing and Xia are acrid and warm, dispelling phlegm and drying dampness; Wu and Fu (Aconite) are acrid and hot, dispersing cold and driving out wind. Soaking and sun-drying eliminates their toxicity.]
(Wan) Xing (Arisaema), Xia (Pinellia), Juhong (Tangerine Peel), Xingren (Apricot Seed), Zhishi (Immature Bitter Orange), Gualou Shi (Trichosanthes Fruit). Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), Fuling (Poria), and Jiangzhi (Ginger Juice) form the paste pills; qi flows smoothly, fire dissipates, and phlegm vanishes. [Banxia (ginger-prepared) and Danxing (Arisaema cum Bile) each 1.5 liang, Juhong, Zhishi (bran-fried), Xingren (skin and tip removed), Gualou Ren (oil removed), Huangqin (wine-fried), Fuling each 1 liang, processed with ginger juice, formed into paste pills, taken with light ginger decoction. Qi can generate fire, and fire generates phlegm. Chenpi (Tangerine Peel) and Xingren descend rebellious qi, Zhishi breaks stagnant qi, Huangqin and Gualou calm excessive heat, Xing and Xia dry dampness, Fuling promotes water metabolism. Water, dampness, fire, and heat are the roots of phlegm generation; thus, resolving phlegm must prioritize clearing qi.]
(Ruizhutang) Qingpi (Green Tangerine Peel), Xing (Arisaema), Xia (Pinellia), Laifu Zi (Radish Seed) gather together. Qu (Medicated Leaven), Maiya (Malt), Shanzha (Hawthorn), Gegen (Kudzu Root), Xingren (Apricot Seed), Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root) [Note: Text says 'Fu' likely referring to Xiangfu/Cyperus based on context description, but literal text says 'Fu'. Context describes Xiangfu later. I will stick to text entities], steamed cake forms the paste, ginger juice kneads it. [Banxia (ginger-prepared) and Danxing (Arisaema cum Bile) each 1 jin, Chenpi (white part removed), Qingpi (Green Tangerine Peel), Suzi (Perilla Seed), Chenxiang (Aquilaria Wood, water-fried), Laifu Zi (Radish Seed), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger), Maiya (Malt, fried), Shenqu (Medicated Leaven, fried), Shanzha (Hawthorn, fried), Gegen (Kudzu Root), Xingren (Apricot Seed, skin/tip removed, fried), Xiangfu (Cyperus Rhizome, vinegar-fried), each 1 liang, mixed with ginger juice, formed into paste pills using steamed cake. Phlegm arises from dampness; Xing and Xia dry dampness; phlegm rises with qi; Suzi and Xingren descend qi; phlegm results from qi stagnation; Qingpi, Chenpi, and Xiangfu guide out stagnation; phlegm is born from wine and food; Shenqu and Gegen resolve wine toxicity, Shanzha and Maiya digest food. When dampness is gone and food is digested, phlegm does not generate; when qi flows smoothly, wheezing and fullness cease naturally.]
