Commentary by Zeng Shirong: This formula clears heat, supports the exterior, and rescues the interior. If the exterior is deficient, it prevents profuse sweating; if the interior has heat, it prevents qi obstruction. Externally, it opens all orifices; internally, it unblocks channels, allowing smooth flow through meridians without congestion, harmonizing the zang-fu organs. Zhi Mu and Dang Gui harmonize yin and yang; Ren Shen and Gan Cao tonify and moderate the stomach and intestines; Chai Hu and Chuan Xiong resist and expel cold pathogens; Fu Ling and Long Dan Cao stop sweating and generate fluids; Ma Huang with joints removed but roots retained achieves completeness in treating both exterior and interior; Scallion white with roots promotes sweating effectively. Whether deficiency or excess, whether heat is in the exterior or interior, its application is always appropriate. For conditions involving accumulation transmission and epilepsy, effects are seen immediately. Scallion root is excellent, named "Tuo Jia" (Exfoliating Shell), its wonders are hard to fully describe. Medical texts record it briefly, but if used with sincerity and correct diagnosis, its efficacy is rapid. Would there be any criticism?
