Zhu Fu Wan (Boiled Cyperus Pill): Treats barrenness in concubines or mistresses caused by emotional depression and stagnant Qi, leading to irregular menstruation. This prescription is excellent; there is no need to take other medicines. (It can rival Shenxian Fuyi Wan).
Take an arbitrary amount of Xiangfu Zi (Cyperus Rhizome), remove the hairs and coarse skin, soak in rice-washing water overnight, then dry. Boil it in a clay pot with high-quality rice vinegar, adding vinegar continuously while boiling (the brilliance lies in using ample vinegar), until extremely soft. Remove, dry by baking, and grind into powder. Use vinegar paste to form pills, sized like paulownia seeds. Take 50–70 pills per dose. Irregular menstruation will be regulated, and long-term barrenness will be reversed.
Another prescription: Treats women who are jealous of mistresses due to their husband's lack of offspring; regular use eliminates jealousy. (Preserved tentatively for trial.)
Tianmendong (Asparagi Radix, heart removed), Chishumi (Sorghum vulgare var. rubrum, husked, lightly stir-fried), Yiyiren (Coicis Semen, husked, stir-fried), each 4 liang.
Grind all into powder, mix with refined honey to form pills, sized like paulownia seeds. Take 80–90 pills per dose, washed down with plain warm water.
Use 1 sheng of Baimianqu (Wheat leaven) and 5 sheng of Wuhuijiu (Clear wine without ash residue), mix into a paste, boil down to 2.5 sheng. Filter through silk cloth to remove dregs. Divide into three doses. When menstruation is about to commence, take one dose in the evening and one at dawn. Menstruation will flow freely, resulting in lifelong sterility. Another method uses a square piece of old silkworm paper (one chi on each side), burned to ash, taken with wine, ensuring lifelong non-pregnancy (another version states taking it with wine postpartum). Yet another method involves frying mercury in oil for one day until volatilization ceases; take one pill the size of a jujube pit on an empty stomach, permanently preventing pregnancy without harming the person. Another method uses Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) 5 qian, plus Yuntaizi (Brassicae Semens, 2 qian), taken warm on an empty stomach after menstruation.
Liangfang Lun (Discussion from Excellent Prescriptions) states: The I Ching says the greatest virtue of Heaven and Earth is "Life." However, some women face difficult childbirth or excessive births and wish to terminate fertility. Therefore, verified prescriptions are recorded for emergency use. If substances such as Shuiyin (Mercurii Sulphas Rubrum), Mengchong (Bleedworm), or Shuizhi (Hirudo) are taken, not only will pregnancy cease, but disaster may strike instantly. Xue Shi (Dr. Xue) stated: Generally, methods for inducing sterility employ harsh and drastic measures, often leading to death; thus, the harm of induced sterility exceeds that of childbirth itself. I have heard that the wives of Grand Secretary Zhang Luofeng and Taichang Li Hengzhai both suffered from physical weakness and illness upon exertion after taking sterility-inducing agents. Although these prescriptions are listed above for occasional use, practitioners must exercise extreme caution.
