Guanzhong, also known as Fanbaiye (Folium of a specific plant), has a bitter and astringent taste, and is cold in nature. It treats metrorrhagia (uterine bleeding), leukorrhea (vaginal discharge), and lower intestinal bleeding. When roasted on a new tile, it treats facial cold pain, taken with Shengjiu (Brewed Liquor) as a guide.

Xing (Apricot fruit), has a sour taste and is hot in nature. It treats internal cold-heat discomfort in the heart, stops thirst, calms asthma, and resolves epidemic febrile diseases. However, excessive consumption damages the eyes and fatigues the sinews.
The kernel (Xing Ren) treats pinworms (Gan chong).
The leaves can be applied externally to treat severe malignant sores.

Xing Ren (Apricot Kernel), has a bitter and slightly pungent taste, and is slightly cold in nature. It enters the Spleen and Lung meridians. It stops coughing, eliminates phlegm and moistens the lungs, moistens the intestines and stomach, eliminates accumulation of flour-based foods, and descends Qi.

Xing Zi (Apricot Fruit), has a sweet, sour, and astringent taste, is hot in nature, and has slight toxicity. It causes harm without benefit. Excessive consumption leads to mental confusion, coldness in the diaphragm, generation of heat-phlegm, disturbance of the Spleen, onset of carbuncles and sores, loss of beard and hair, and damage to bones and sinews. Those with pre-existing eye diseases should avoid it; children and postpartum women especially should avoid it.
Another type of Xing Ren, has a sweet and bitter taste, is warm in nature, has slight toxicity, and is beneficial when processed by fire (e.g., stir-frying or roasting). It resolves tin poisoning, kills parasites, digests dog meat and flour-based accumulations, disperses wind-pathogens from the muscle layer, eliminates phlegm and calms asthma, benefits the diaphragm, moistens dryness, possesses both dispersing and descending properties, moistens the throat, and aids voice production. It treats bites from mad dogs; applying it externally leads to immediate healing. If insects enter the ear, dripping Apricot Kernel water will expel them. Double-kernel apricots should be avoided.

Hong Mei (Red Plum), has a sour taste and is cold in nature. It treats all types of epidemic febrile diseases, summer-heat, headache, and fever, showing miraculous efficacy upon ingestion.

Tao (Peach), is available everywhere, but specifically, the Da Huang Tao (Large Yellow Peach) grows in Yunnan, along with varieties introduced from Xizhu (India). Eating it lightens the body. There are also Xiao Jin Li Walnut, Jian Zui Tao (Sharp-beak Peach), which invigorate blood. Jin Dan Zi (Golden Bullet Seed) mainly treats bloody dysentery. Mao Tao (Hairy Peach) is applied externally to treat scalds and burns. The fruit has a pungent and sour taste. It treats gu accumulation (parasitic disease), regulates menstruation, moistens the large intestine, and eliminates subcardiac accumulation. The kernel treats blood-phlegm. The peel, burned to ash and powdered, is applied to treat impetigo (Huangshui Chuang). The leaves wash sores to dispel wind.
Da Huang Tao resembles Citrus medica (Xie Yuan); eating it refreshes the spirit and clears the mind, prolongs life, and darkens gray hair.

Tao Zi (Peach Fruit), has a sweet and sour taste, is warm in nature, and has slight toxicity. It can resolve pathogenic factors and beautify the complexion. Excessive consumption disturbs the Spleen, aids heat, causes abdominal distension, and triggers carbuncles and sores. It should not be consumed while taking Atractylodes macrocephala (Zhu Ru/Bai Zhu). It should not be eaten together with turtle, as this combination can trigger Dan Shi Du (toxicity from mineral drug ingestion). Drinking water after bathing following peach consumption causes diarrhea. This item causes harm without benefit, hence Peaches are listed as inferior grade among the Five Fruits.
Tao Ren (Peach Kernel), has a bitter and sweet taste, is neutral in nature, and is non-toxic. It mainly treats wind-bi syndrome, bone-steaming tidal fever, liver malaria with alternating chills and fever, breaks up blood stasis, kills parasites, and unblocks and moistens the large intestine. One method for treating sudden heart pain is to take seven Tao Ren kernels, remove the skin and tips, grind them into a paste, and swallow with boiling water, which stops the pain immediately. Boiled Tao Ye (Peach Leaves) used to wash the eyes can remove "corpse qi" attacks (sudden fright or obscure ocular disturbances).
