Luo Yun Xiang Cao (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa), with a slightly bitter taste and slightly cold nature. For exterior syndromes, it clears excess fire in the six meridians, resolves exterior pathogens, and induces sweating very rapidly. It eliminates ru e (mumps-like swelling of the parotid gland) and hard swelling of the cheeks, attacks redness and swelling of sores and ulcers, causing those with pus to rupture and those without pus to have their redness and swelling subside; it also relieves labor fever in both men and women. (Attached Prescription) To treat axillary sweat and bromhidrosis, place freshly dug Luo Yun Xiang Cao under the armpit, and the smelly sweat will stop naturally. Supplementary Note: Luo Yun Xiang Cao is similar to the roots and leaves of Mao Ye Yun Xiang Cao (Mao Ye Yun Xiang Cao). Its leaves are slightly yellowish, and it has a fragrant herb smell when smelled by the nose, whereas Mao Ye Yun Xiang Cao lacks this fragrance.
Zhen Ai Ta Ta Tou (True Ai Ta Ta Tou, erroneously transmitted as "Ai Ta Ta"), mostly produced in the Kingdom of Xi Fan, uniquely found in Ni Shui, central Yunnan. Nowadays, Shan Pi Tiao is mistakenly identified as Ai Ta Ta Tou. Shan Pi Tiao has slight toxicity. Bitter, cold, directs qi downward. True Ai Ta Ta Tou has soft branches and large leaves, does not flower, and bears black seeds on its leaves. Its odor and taste are sweet and pungent. Non-toxic. Enters the twelve meridians, unblocks the five zang organs, moistens the six fu organs, generates fluids, benefits qi, and possesses effects similar to Ren Shen (Ginseng).
Huang Hua Zi (Yellow Flower Seed), grows in wild fields, has large yellow seeds, black spots on the seeds, opens yellow flowers, and can be eaten as a vegetable. Sweet and sour, non-toxic. Treats all conditions of yin deficiency with flourishing fire, and symptoms of collapsing yin and collapsing yang, with miraculous efficacy. Stir-fried until scorched with Wu Wei Zi (Schisandra) and salt, then taken with rice. Long-term consumption makes one white and plump, prolongs life and benefits longevity. It also benefits the stomach and strengthens the spleen.
Huang Mao Jin Si Cao (Yellow Hair Golden Silk Grass), grows in mountains. Green leaves lie flat on the ground, with one branch above, or branching. Several yellow flowers like silk bloom on the branches. Large fruits grow on the roots, as sweet as honey. Harvest and consume; long-term use lightens the body and benefits longevity.
Tian Yuan Zhi (Sweet Yuan Zhi), sweet in taste, slightly warm in nature. Primarily tonifies the heart, liver, spleen, and kidney, nourishes yin and blood, supports spirit, moistens the form, stops abdominal pain due to cold in the face, stops cough due to labor heat, treats leukorrhea and lower back pain in women, dizziness and tinnitus, and deficiency and damage in both men and women, truly an important medicine. (Single Prescription) Treats postpartum ru lao syndrome in women, characterized by fever, sweating, and loss of appetite for food. Tian Yuan Zhi (5 qian peeled and dried, or 1 liang raw) and Sun Ji (one chicken, intestines removed). Place the herbs inside the chicken's cavity, boil until tender, and take on an empty stomach for efficacy. (Supplementary Note): "Ru Lao" is a term for postpartum conditions, referring to weakness after childbirth with panting, alternating chills and fever, resembling malaria, named "Ru Lao." This is due to deficiency. Another cause is qi stagnation after childbirth, where liver blood becomes constrained leading to Ru Lao, as qi and blood fail to connect smoothly; qi deficiency causes sudden chills, blood deficiency causes sudden fever, with spontaneous sweating from cold/heat, no rest at any time, symptoms resembling malaria but actually not malaria. Treatment should focus on greatly tonifying qi and blood. Tian Yuan Zhi tonifies qi and blood, and Sun Ji is a substance rich in qi and blood, used to assist.
