Clematis Root (Tiexian Cao), growing by fields and in open wilderness, has soft branches that creep along the ground. The stems are thin and red, resembling iron wires, hence its name. It tastes sweet, slightly bitter, and astringent, with a neutral nature. It enters the Liver channel, treating pain in the sinews and bones, promoting the flow of meridians, hemiplegia, spasms of the limbs, flaccidity due to phlegm-fire, and soreness and pain in the sinews and bones. Soaking it in wine yields excellent results. Crushed and applied externally, it can cure sores.
Clematis Root (Tiexian Cao), dried flowers of Xiaobai Shuqi, Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Achyranthes Root (Niuxi), and Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi) are placed together in a jar for wine infusion. They are boiled over moderate heat for the time it takes to burn one incense stick, then buried in the earth overnight to remove the "fire" property. Taken out the next day, three cups are consumed before bedtime.
(Another prescription) Clematis Root (Tiexian Cao), chewed and applied to chronic non-healing sores, promotes tissue regeneration. It also stops bleeding and closes wounds from knife injuries and bruises. It aids in bone setting and is highly effective.
(Note) Clematis Root (Tiexian Cao) should be selected from those growing across paths or growing straight up through stone crevices, even penetrating through stones, which is better.

Barnyard Millet (Baimi), tastes pungent, sweet, and bitter, with a slightly cold nature. It is non-toxic. It benefits the Spleen and supplements Qi. It can also be used as rice and kills parasites.
Boiling its juice and pouring it on the ground kills moles and ants; thus, this practice should be avoided.
Barley Sprout (Dayamai), tastes neutral and sweet, with a warm nature. It expands the middle Jiao, directs Qi downward, stops vomiting, resolves retained food, stops acid regurgitation and sour belching, stops diarrhea, relieves stomach fullness and chest oppression, and treats conditions in women where milk fails to come down or flows excessively.
Barley Sprout (Dayamai), regardless of quantity, is decocted in water and taken orally.

Imperata Rhizome (Maogen), tastes sweet, with a cold nature. It enters the Stomach and Small Intestine channels. It dispels blood stasis, unblocks blood obstruction, stops hematemesis and epistaxis, treats bloody strangury, promotes urination, and stops metrorrhagia and metrostaxis in women.
Japonica Rice (Jingsumi), tastes sweet, with a neutral nature. It is non-toxic. It comes in red and white varieties. The hard grains are Japonica Rice, called "Da Mi" (large rice) or "Dao Mi" (rice grain) by people in the North. It treats all kinds of deficiency and damage, supplements the Middle Jiao and Qi, strengthens sinews and bones, generates fluids, brightens the eyes, and enhances intelligence.
It is miraculously effective for sores.
Shumi (Xianmi), i.e., glutinous rice, resembles Japonica rice but has smaller grains. In Yunnan, there are red and white varieties. It tastes sweet, with a warm nature. It is non-toxic. It mainly treats warming the Middle Jiao and supplementing Qi, nourishing the Stomach and harmonizing the Spleen, removing dampness and stopping diarrhea. The Puji Fang states: Old stalks treat reverse flowing qi (burned to ash, leached with water, mixed with porridge, taken warm, very effective). This is because there are worms in the Stomach that can be killed. Long-term consumption can prolong life. Currently, many people in Fujian consume this rice.
Rice Straw (Daocao), tastes sweet and neutral, with a warm nature. It is non-toxic. It mainly treats expanding the Middle Jiao, relaxing the Stomach and Intestines, directing Qi downward, warming the Middle Jiao and stopping diarrhea, resolving accumulation of beef and horse meat, and retaining food. It resolves stagnation of milk and food in children, causing abdominal pain. The nodes of the straw circulate through the meridians of the whole body, treating pain in sinews, bones, and phlegm-fire.
(Attached Prescription) A person suffered from food stagnation after eating beef or horse meat, experiencing heartburn, nausea and vomiting, chest fullness and slight pain, loss of appetite, and sallow, emaciated complexion.
Rice Straw (Daocao) (5 qian), Rock Sugar (Shatang) (1 qian). Decoct in water. Effective after three doses.
(Another Prescription) Treats spleen injury caused by dietary irregularities in children, leading to persistent diarrhea unresponsive to other medicines. This prescription is effective. It also treats diarrhea caused by spleen injury from peaches, plums, or pears:
Glutinous Rice Straw (Nuogucacao) (3 qian), Amomum Fruit (Sharen) (0.5 fen). Decoct and take. For persistent diarrhea, add authentic Huai Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) (2 qian).
(Another Prescription) Treats pain in the sinews and bones of the legs and feet, and attacks of phlegm-fire, leading to recovery.
Rice Straw Nodes (Daocaojie) (3 qian, cut into 0.3 cun lengths). Either 100 nodes or 50 nodes are decocted in water and taken. It stops pain miraculously. For phlegm-fire and damp Hong Kong foot (tinea pedis), add Coix Seed (Yiyiren) (3 qian).
