Shuiniu Liantie (membrane of the water buffalo's stomach or related part), sweet and slightly sour in taste, warm in nature. It strengthens the spleen and opens the appetite, eliminates stagnation, grinds down retained food, relaxes the chest to awaken the spleen, promotes eating, and resolves fullness and chest distension.
In the past, a child had poor spleen and stomach function, experiencing occasional vomiting and diarrhea, loss of appetite due to food retention, sallow complexion with emaciation, and lackluster eyes. Later, this prescription was obtained and taken with good effect.
Shuiniu Liantie (roasted on a new tile until yellow, 1 liang) Ji Zhun Pi (chicken gizzard lining, roasted until yellow, 1 liang). Both are ground into powder. Take 1 qian each time, washed down with boiling water.
Avoid wheat flour products and raw/cold foods.

Sheep meat, odorous, sweet, and slightly bitter in smell/taste, very hot in nature. Non-toxic. Mainly indicated for tonifying the middle and boosting qi, calming the mind, relieving fright, and stopping pain. Consumption by postpartum women facilitates childbirth. It also treats wind-dizziness and phlegm syndromes, five labors and seven injuries (chronic exhaustion syndromes) in men, and infantile convulsions and epilepsy. It opens the stomach and strengthens the spleen; consumption yields miraculous effects. Patients should avoid it, as it may stir up wind.
