[Formula Name] Also known as Erhuang Wan (Two Yellow Pill).
[Etiology and Mechanism] The Heart governs Blood; Blood generates Qi; Qi generates Essence. When Essence is abundant, beard and hair do not turn white, complexion and appearance remain vigorous, thereby extending life and promoting longevity. Those who die prematurely often do so because they have taken drugs with hot properties, which fail to generate Essence and Blood. Among tonifying drugs, none are superior to Sheng Dihuang (Raw Rehmanniae Radix), Shu Dihuang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix), Tianmendong (Asparagi Radix), and Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix). People only know to use Shu Dihuang (Washed); however, one should also use Sheng Dihuang (Washed and steamed again), Tianmendong (Peeled), and Maidong (Heart removed, each 1 liang). Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 0.5 liang).
[Administration] Grind the above five herbs into a fine powder. Make pills using refined honey, sized like Sophora japonica seeds. Take 50 pills per dose, on an empty stomach, delivered with warm wine or salted water. Within ten days, vision will be clarified; within two years, longevity will be extended, beard and hair will darken, providing significant benefit.
[Alternative Preparation Method] Baifuling (Poria, remove coarse skin, grind to fine powder, wash thoroughly, dry in shade, 4 liang), Toumian (Head and face [textual anomaly, likely specific processing aid], 13 liang), Renshen mo (Ginseng powder, 3 qian), Qingyan (Green salt, a small amount). Mix with boiling water to form a dough-like consistency. Cook over alternating mild and strong heat until ripe. Divide into ten portions for daily consumption over ten days. Take three batches per month. In summer, add Gan Lianzirou (Dried Lotus Seed Cotyledon) to one batch.
[Indication] Treats Spleen-Stomach deficiency weakness. When Spleen Earth fails to transform dampness into phlegm, phlegm accumulates forming nest-like masses in the chest and diaphragm. Food intake decreases and digestion slows. Treatment should focus on strengthening Spleen Earth, causing phlegm to descend and Qi to flow smoothly.
[Ingredients] RouDoukou (Nutmeg, 1 liang, soaked in salt and wine, stir-fried with Poguozhi/Bone-setter Herb until dry; if Poguozhi is not used, process alone); Shanyao (Chinese Yam, 1 liang, soaked in wine, stir-fried with Wuweizi/Five-flavor Fruit until dry; if Wuweizi is not used, process alone); Houpo (Magnolia Bark, 2 liang, remove coarse skin, stir-fried with 1 liang of Green Salt until the salt no longer smokes; if salt is not used, process alone); Da Ban [Text truncated, likely referring to another ingredient such as Dazao/Jujube].
[Administration] Grind the above herbs into a fine powder. Bind with rice paste to form pills sized like Sophora japonica seeds. Coat with Chen Sha (Cinnabar, 1 fen) and Chenxiang (Aquilaria Wood, 1 fen) in two layers. Dry in the shade. Take 5-7 pills per dose.
[Formula Name] Sizhi Cangzhu Wan (Four-Processed Atractylodes Macrocephala Pill).
[Therapeutic Action] Dries dampness and strengthens Spleen Earth, secures True Yuan, and nourishes the Stomach.
[Ingredients] Cangzhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 1 jin, divided into four parts for processing. One part [4 liang] stir-fried with Poguozhi and Xiaohuixiang/Fennel; one part [4 liang] stir-fried with Chuanleizi/Szechwan Chinaberry Fruit; one part [4 liang]... [Text truncated]).
[Administration] After stir-frying the above ingredients together, discard other processing aids. Use only the processed Cangzhu, grind into a fine powder. Bind with wine paste to form pills sized like Sophora japonica seeds. Take 50 pills per dose, on an empty stomach, delivered with Mi Yin (Rice decoction/water).
