If the whole body develops nodules that, when scratched, ooze pus and fluid, accompanied by alternating chills and fever, it is due to deficiency of Qi and Blood in the Liver Meridian with empty fire. Use Bazhen San (Eight-Treasures Powder) added with Mudanpi (Cortex Moutan Radicis) and Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri), or Quandaibu Tang (Complete Great Tonifying Decoction). If the skin itches as if rubbed against silk gauze, it is because Qi and Blood cannot nourish the exterior; use Renshen Yangrong Tang (Ginseng Nourishing Younger Decoction). If the face itches and feels numb, it is due to deficiency of Qi and Blood; use [Missing Text] Huang Wan (Yellow Pill).
If sores appear on the tongue and mouth, or the throat hurts, and the patient prefers cold drinks with constipation, it is Excess Heat; use Sishun Qingliang Yin (Four-Obedience Cooling Clearing Drink). If the pulse is micro and fine, or hands and feet are cold, or accompanied by wheezing and shortness of breath, urgently use Bawei Dihuang Wan to tonify Yang.
If the tongue is red and cracked or has prickles, accompanied by thirst and desire to drink, frequent urination, intermittent fever, fever without fixed location, or heat rising from the soles of the feet, this is a critical condition leading to death.
If sores appear on the tongue and mouth with incessant thirst, intermittent fever, fever stopping at night but present during the day, or fever present at night but calm during the day, frequent urination, and heat rising from the soles of the feet, use Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten-Ingredient Great Tonifying Decoction). If one mistakenly uses cold and cooling agents to treat fire, damaging the Spleen and Stomach further, resulting in empty fullness in the chest and abdomen, loss of appetite, loose stools, difficult urination, abdominal distension, limb edema, or cold hands and feet, this is a Deficient-Cold syndrome of the Three Yin Meridians of the Foot; urgently use Jiaban Jin Gui Shenqi Wan (Modified Golden Cabinet Kidney Qi Pill). There are cases of recovery.

If chronic illness leads to sinking of Yuan Qi, or damage from purgatives, it is best to strengthen Spleen/Stomach and raise Yang Qi. If accompanied by bone/joint pain, first use Toujing Jielsuan Tang (Penetrate Meridians Relieve Spasm Decoction) and Qinjiao Dihuang Tang (Gentian and Rehmannia Decoction), then Bazhen San added with Mudanpi and Chaihu. If Wind medicines were mistakenly taken damaging Yin/Blood, use Yilao Qufeng Wan (Yilao Expelling Wind Pill). If thighs, scrotum, or feet are affected, use Sisheng San (Four Generations Powder) and Dihuang Wan. If mistakenly taking Caowu/Chuanwu (Aconite roots) or applying Badou (Croton seed)/Pishi (Arsenic), causing muscle rot and becoming Leprosy-like, practitioners must be cautious.

If Qi Deficient, assist with Buzhong Yiqi Tang added with Shanzhi and Gouteng. If constipation, it is Wind-Heat with dryness; use Qingwei San added with Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba). If Spleen Qi Deficient, assist Liuwei Wan with Buzhong Yiqi Tang. If Damp-Phlegm pours down, assist Buzhong Yiqi Tang with Liuwei Wan.
