Secretly Transmitted Beitin Dan (Qingxi) Formula: Renzhongbai (Human Uric Crystals, 5 fen each), Qingxi (Moss on Roof Tiles), Tangjifen (Chicken Droppings from Soft Stool), Wasong (Sedum Acre, 1 qian each).
Place the above medicines into two silver-lined jars. Seal the jar mouths tightly, and reinforce the exterior with salt mud. Roast over charcoal fire until red hot, for a duration equivalent to three incense sticks. After cooling, open the jars, remove the medicine, add Bingpian (Borneol) and Shexiang (Musk), each 1 fen, and grind them together into a fine powder. Use a magnetic needle to puncture the Shejun (lingual fungiform papillae or lingual tumor), apply a small amount of the Dan onto the lesion, and cover it with Puhuang (Lycopodium Powder).
Kui Guang stated: Lianzhu Gan (Pearl-shaped Lingual Ulcer) and Koufeng (Oral Wind, referring to symptoms like facial paralysis or speech impediment associated with oral lesions) begins with a small blister under the tongue. Initially one appears, gradually increasing to five or six, growing in a string-of-pearls pattern.
Feng Luzhan stated: Bleeding from the tongue is called She nv (Lingual Hemorrhage). It is a manifestation of Heart and Spleen Heat Syndrome. (*Jinnang*)
He further stated: She nv refers to bleeding from the tongue without obvious cause, flowing like a thread continuously, or resembling the hole of an hairpin. It is suitable to take Xiangru Juice (Elsholtzia Juice) one sheng, taken three times daily. Externally, stir-fried Huaihua (Sophora Flower) should be ground into a fine powder and applied dry to the site.
Tian Shi Qi stated: When blood flows from the tongue like a spring, it is due to extreme excess of Heart Fire, causing blood to fail to remain within the meridians. (*Milu*)
Chen Shigong stated: Bleeding from the tongue like a thread without apparent cause indicates that Heart and Stomach Fire pathogens are extremely vigorous, forcing blood to move recklessly. This is named She nv. (*Zhengzong*)
For bleeding from the tongue without apparent cause: Stir-fry Huaihua (Sophora Flower) until yellow, grind into a fine powder, and apply to the area.
For bleeding from the tongue like a spring: This is due to extreme excess of Heart Fire, with blood failing to reside in the meridians. Take Liuwei Dihuang Tang (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Decoction) with an additional 3 qian of Huaihua (Sophora Flower), decoct and drink; recovery will be immediate.
For sudden bleeding from the tongue resembling hairpin holes: Take one sheng of Chixiaodou (Adzuki Bean), crush it, mix with three bowls of water, mash and extract the juice. Drink one zhan per dose, at any time. Externally, apply Huaihua (Sophora Flower) powder.
Another prescription: Crush Daji (Great Thistle) and Xiaoji (Lesser Thistle) to extract juice, and drink mixed with wine.
In newborn infants, if the tongue is covered by a white membrane and it is not scraped off, it may trigger Jingfeng (Infantile Convulsion). This must not be overlooked. (*Baosheng Suishi*)
Verified Prescription (*Baosheng Suishi*): First, scrape the white membrane on the tongue until it bleeds, then apply a small amount of Bai fan (Alumen) to the site.
