Those who ingest salt brine will experience a salty taste in the mouth, thirst, abdominal pain, curling of the body, and contraction of the feet, ultimately leading to death. Salt is capable of tonifying the Kidney (Zang-organ associated with water storage and essence), so why does it kill? It is unknown that salt brine has a bitter taste; bitterness enters the Heart first. When the Heart encounters salt brine, Qi stagnation occurs and fails to circulate freely. Finding that the Heart cannot accept it, the brine attacks the Kidney. The Kidney, perceiving the bitter taste, also rejects it. Consequently, the brine moves back and forth between the Heart and the Kidney, causing their Qi to conflict and oppose each other. Eventually, the brine flows into the intestines, rendering the condition incurable. The Large Intestine and Small Intestine most detest the entry of salt brine. Once entered, they must shrink and narrow, forming knots. With knots formed, Qi circulation is blocked; how can one avoid dying while curled up? The treatment method involves using Gancao Tang (Licorice Decoction) to resolve the toxicity.
Empirical Formula: Urgently crush soapberries to extract juice, mix with water, and administer orally to induce vomiting. If vomiting is incomplete, administer hot tofu slurry to induce vomiting of undigested food residues. If vomiting does not occur, stimulate the throat several times with a goose feather to ensure vomiting.
Gancao Tang (Licorice Decoction): Use 3 liang of raw Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata), decoct in water for emergency rescue. If ingestion was recent, add 1 liang of Dan Dou Chi (Fermented Soybean) and decoct together for administration. If the intestines remain moist, death is not inevitable; success depends on flexible application.
Another Formula: Administer cold tofu slurry.
Another Formula: Administer water dripping from plastered walls.
Another Formula: Take Zao Jiao Shui (Soap Pod Water) cold.
The text states: Among methods to detoxify, none is superior to fire, as fire can alter the nature of substances.
Chen Yuan Gong stated: Inadvertently consuming Lou Fu (meat contaminated by roof leakage) leads to fullness and distension in the chest and diaphragm, upper vomiting and lower diarrhea, intestinal pain resembling knife cuts, incessant painful diarrhea, and potentially death.
Lou Fu refers to overnight meat dripped upon by roof leaks. It seems harmless, yet why does it kill? This is because in old houses, there is much dust on the beams, and snakes or scorpions often crawl on the roof. Dust hangs upside down, and spider webs form, all containing toxic substances. Rainwater flows down, and any toxic vapors dissolve in the water. However, when this water enters the meat, where do the toxins go? They naturally condense within the meat and fail to dissipate. Eating such meat inevitably causes unpredictable changes. Some may eat it without dying; what is the reason? This is likely because the house was not old and had not been exposed to toxic contaminants. Although death may be avoided, illness is unavoidable, which is why the Supreme Principle warns against it. Urgent administration of detoxifying herbs will naturally preserve life.
