From the ankle joint down to the sole of the foot and toes, all types of carbuncles (deep-seated suppurative infections), sores, and Ding poison (hard, deep-rooted boils) are collected in this section for easy reference and treatment consultation.
The *Xinfa* states: Feng Ju (Wind Carbuncle) arises on the tibia and at concave joints, characterized by itching, skin damage, and the exudation of yellow fluid that is extremely viscous and thick. This is caused by Wind pathogen lingering in the blood vessels and clashing with healthy Qi. Due to its deep root, it is named "Ju". In severe cases, it presents with bodily restlessness and heat, dizziness, redness penetrating the muscles, and increased swelling and pain. It is advisable to take Fangfeng Tang (Saposhnikovia Decoction) externally applied with Qingzhu Dadou You (Green Bamboo Soybean Oil) for immediate effect.
Qingzhu Dadou You (from *Jian*) : Cut a green bamboo tube three chi long with a diameter of one and a half cun. Fill it with one sheng of black beans. Use bran and horse manure as fuel to roast the inside of the bamboo tube. Collect the liquid using porcelain vessels at both ends. If oil juice is extracted, soak it in rice washing water with added salt, heat it, and wash the affected area. After drying, apply the bean oil immediately. Not more than three applications will yield extreme efficacy.
The *Lingshu* says: Eruptions occurring at the medial malleolus are named Zouhuan (Wandering Slowness). The condition manifests as a carbuncle with unchanged skin color. Repeatedly needling the Shu points to halt chills and fever ensures survival without death. Wang Kentang states: Carbuncle arising at the medial malleolus of the foot is named Xiedai Yong (Shoelace Carbuncle). It is caused by Cold-Dampness stagnating in the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian and Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian, resulting in sluggish blood flow and obstructed Qi circulation. (*Zhunsheng*)

Qushi Xiaoxie Tang (Decoction to Dispel Dampness and Eliminate Evil, by Master Qi)
Yiyiren (Coix Seed) (2 liang) Sheng Gancao (Raw Licorice Root) (3 qian) Jinyinhua (Honeysuckle Flower) Pugongying (Dandelion) Danggui (Angelica Sinensis) (1 qian each)
Decoct in water and take orally. (This is a Damp-Heat syndrome, primarily treated with Qushi Qingxie Tang. Generally, Dampness is acquired from below, and water flows downward. Yiyiren removes dampness and promotes Qi flow in the joints; Jinyinhua eliminates Fire-Toxin evil; assisted by Sheng Gancao, the evil disperses easily and dampness retreats. However, Blood deficiency allows Water-Qi to invade easily and Damp-Evil to enter. Now, Danggui is used to tonify Blood. When Blood is sufficient, Water-Qi cannot invade, and Damp-Evil finds it hard to enter. Thus, its use is appropriate, and the disease can be cured rapidly.)
Wang Kentang states: Waihuai Ju (Lateral Malleolus Carbuncle), also known as Jiaoguai Du (Ankle Deformity Poison), arises at the lateral malleolus of the foot. It belongs to the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian and Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, caused by the downward pouring of Damp-Heat. (*Zhunsheng*)
Shen Douyuan states: Jiaoguai Du, also known as Xiedai Ju (Shoelace Carbuncle), is Cold-Dampness from the Bladder Meridian pouring into the skin, injuring the sinews and bones. Usually unnoticed, after a long time, the Ju erupts at both ankles. (*Qixuan*)
The *Xinfa* states: Waihuai Ju involves the collaterals of the Three Yang Meridians. It is formed by the downward pouring of Damp-Cold, leading to sluggish blood and obstructed Qi. The symptoms include hardness, diffuse swelling, unchanged skin color, occasional dull pain, and difficulty walking. It is advisable to take Neituo Qianghuo Tang (Internal Support Notopterygium Decoction). If the patient is weak and suppuration is imminent, presenting with intermittent throbbing pain, Shiquan Dabu Tang (Comprehensive Great Tonifying Decoction) should be taken. (*Jian*)
