Chen Shigong stated: The "Fu Yin Ju" (Attached Yin Abscess) arises three cun above the medial malleolus. Initially presenting as small blisters, it gradually becomes red and swollen. Upon rupture, it discharges bloody fluid; the pain penetrates to the bone, rendering walking impossible. (From *Zhengzong*)
The *Xinfa* (Essentials of Medical Methods) states: The "Fu Yin Ju" arises three cun above the medial malleolus. Initially resembling a red millet grain, the pain increases daily, with hardness and redness swelling until it resembles a chicken egg. It is located at the intersection of the Three Yin meridians (Liver, Spleen, Kidney), formed by the accumulation of damp-heat. Its treatment follows that of carbuncles and sores. However, since the Sanyinjiao acupoint (Three Yin Intersection) belongs to pure Yin, its convergence and recovery are slow; therefore, regulation must be handled with extreme caution. (From *Jian*)
Wang Kentang stated: "Gua Teng Chan" (Melon Vine Entanglement) arises in the thighs, presenting with several nodules that are painful and swollen. Over time, they ulcerate without healing. This condition belongs to the Foot Taiyang Bladder Meridian and is caused by damp-heat from the Zang-Fu organs flowing downward to the lower body. (From *Zhunsheng*)
The *Xinfa* states: If damp-heat flows downward, multiple nodules may form around the tibia. After many days, they become painful, swollen, and ulcerate incessantly. This is named "Gua Teng Chan". (From *Jian*)
The *Gui Yi Fang* states: On both legs, at the junction near the upper calf (the Achilles tendon area), a Dan Ju (Red Abscess) arises, sized like a walnut. It is hard, resembling the state after being struck or knocked by an object. It does not cause severe pain but presents with urgent swelling and distension. One should fear damage to the tendons; thus, pus and toxins must be discharged early to ensure safety.
The *Xinfa* states: "Jie Gu" (Bone Connection) occurs below the calf, at the junction between the tibia and the calcaneus (heel bone), hence the name. This condition is formed by the coagulation of damp-heat in the Bladder. Initially resembling a walnut, it is hard as if struck by an object, presenting with urgent distension, slight pain, redness, and diffuse swelling. Pus should rupture quickly; delay allows pus toxins to damage the tendons. Once the tendons are injured, the heel cannot touch the ground when walking, forcing the patient to rely solely on the toes for support. Treatment follows the methods of the Carbuncle and Sore section. (From *Jian*)
The *Xinfa* states: "Huang Qiu Yong" (Yellow Loach Carbuncle) arises on the medial side of the calf. It is painful, hard, and swollen, measuring several inches in length, shaped like a loach, with a slightly red color. It is formed by the coagulation of damp-heat in the Liver and Spleen meridians. Rupture yielding thick pus is auspicious; rupture yielding turbid water indicates critical danger. Treatment follows the methods of the Carbuncle and Sore section.
