Zhi Bai San (Prepared Phellodendron Powder): Take several jin of thick yellow Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) and soak it in a cesspool for one hundred days. Remove it, bury it in yellow earth for three days, take it out, dry it in the sun, and grind it into fine powder. If the sore has exudate, sprinkle the powder directly; if the sore is dry, mix with honey and apply.
Fen Shi Xiao Du Dan (Dampness-Dividing Detoxification Pill): Hongdan (Lead Oxide, 2 liang), Qianfen (Lead Carbonate, stir-fried, 1 liang), Bala (Beeswax, 1 liang), Xuxiang (Boswelliae Resin, de-oiled, 3 qian), Moyao (Myrrhae Resin, de-oiled, 3 qian), Ercha (Catechu, 3 qian), Chaonao (Borneolum Syntheticum, 3 qian), Songxiang (Pini Resin, 3 qian), Qingfen (Calomelas, 1 qian), Xuexie (Dracaenae Sanguis, 5 qian), Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum, 5 fen), Shexiang (Moschus, 5 fen), Tonglü (Chalcanthite, 3 fen), Qiuyin Fen (Earthworm Excrement, from leek fields, 2 liang, stir-fried to 1.5 liang). Grind all ingredients into an extremely fine powder. First, wash the affected area with scallion water. While damp, sprinkle the powder directly onto the sore. It will inevitably cause unbearable itching, but do not scratch with hands. After a short while, several bowls of golden-yellow fluid will flow out. Wash again with scallion water. Repeat the cycle of sprinkling, flowing, and washing three times. The fluid will gradually decrease, and pain will cease. On the next day, use the previous ointment spread on thick skin paper, adding 2 qian of this powder. Allow the fluid to discharge. If itching is extreme, sweep the area externally with crane feathers to relieve itching.

Mix with raw egg white to make a plaster applied over paper.
Both feet have blue nodules, swelling, pain, and bone ache: Slice fresh garlic (Du Suan) about 3 qian thick. Place on the blue nodules and moxibustion with three moxa cones. Replace garlic and continue moxibustion until healed. If the affected area is large, crush garlic into a paste, spread it on, and perform gathered moxibustion.
Leg damp sores appearing in patches with exudate, intermittent pain and itching: Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, 1 liang), Xuxiang (Boswelliae Resin, 3 qian). Grind finely and apply. It promotes dampness drainage and relieves itching. For damp tinea, mix with Suhe You (Styrax Oil) and apply.
Piaoxiao San (Cuttlebone Powder by Zhang Jingyue): Treats sores caused by damp-heat with skin breakdown and dripping toxic fluid, or swelling and pain of the scrotum and lower legs/thighs, and various sores such as chancres, with miraculous efficacy. Haipiaoxiao (Sepiae Endoconcha, no need to soak to remove saltiness), Renzhongbai (Urinae Humanis Deposition, or Renzhonghuang, equal parts). Grind into fine powder. First, decoct a large amount of herbs in strong water, fumigate and wash the area while hot, then sprinkle this powder. For dry sores, mix with sesame oil or熟猪油 (cooked pig lard) with honey water for application. If swelling and pain are severe, add a small amount of Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum) for better effect. For wet sores with heavy pus/fluid, add equal parts of Mituoseng (Litharge) or Guofen (Lead White), or Lu Ganshi (Calamina) is even better.
