Hao Wan, Tongsheng San, Sanhuang Jiedu Tang, Kuanxiong Xingqi San, Jili Kushen Wan, Chugen Jili Wan (i.e., Xiaoshen Wan), Dashen Wan, Liangxue Babao Tang, Xingyao Fang, Badou San, Zengshi Shuiyao Fang, Wanyao Fang (Above are contemporary formulas)
II. Differentiated Treatment (Segmented Management)
Investigate the source of the disease and guide the flow of medicinal properties; this is called differentiated treatment.
Select guiding herbs according to the patterns of the Five Zang organs and meridians: Xieqing Wan, Xiebai San, Xiehuang San, Xiaoyao San.
III. Gentle Treatment (Slow and Mild Therapy)
When the original Qi is deficient, or damage has been caused by improper medication, seeking rapid results will deepen the illness. Therefore, treat with a gentle approach.
Heshouwu San, Duhuo Jisheng Tang.
IV. Vigorous Treatment (Intense and Rapid Therapy)
When the disease has persisted for a long time, mild agents are ineffective. Therefore, treat with a vigorous approach.
Jili San, Leiwan San.
V. Tonifying Treatment (Supplemental Support)
Whether due to deficiency of original Qi or damage caused by improper sweating or purging methods, treatment should focus on tonification. This section largely adopts the views of Xue Ji (Xue Shi).
Qi deficiency, Blood deficiency, Qi and Blood deficiency, Yang deficiency, Yin deficiency, Yin and Yang deficiency.
VI. Purging Treatment (Draining and Eliminating Pathogens)
Stagnation of Qi and Blood, combined with damp-heat, generates parasites; prolonged stagnation of damp-heat exacerbates bi-syndrome (obstruction syndrome). Therefore, treatment should focus on purging.
Xingyao Fang, Zhiming San, Tongtian Zaizao San, Sanhuang Baidu San.
VII. Concurrent Treatment (Managing Complications)
When Leprosy (Lifeng/Ma Feng) is present alongside other syndromes, or when other diseases evolve into Leprosy. The symptoms are complex, and the medications are varied; thus, it is called concurrent treatment.
For example, management of eye conditions, treating Shaoyang/Taiyang etc. (Six Channels) Cold Damage, and regulating menstruation in women.
VIII. Analogous Treatment (Similar Pattern Management)
Conditions that resemble Leprosy but are not, or are not Leprosy but share similar characteristics. Although the diseases differ, their underlying principles are the same; they are treated using analogous methods, hence termed analogous treatment.
Residual toxins after smallpox/measles, Vitiligo (Chidianbai), Ubailei (a type of stubborn skin disorder), Urticaria (Yinzhen).
IX. Residual/Consolidation Treatment (Aftercare and Consolidation)
Building a mountain nine ren high only to fail for lack of one basket of earth is not a sound strategy. Although termed "residual" treatment, this final step is critical and must not be neglected.
Eliminate the root cause, ensure proper aftercare, tonify Qi and Blood, strengthen sinews and bones.
