Seven Convenient Formulas for Immediate Use
One formula: Mix well water and river water equally and drink; treats Sha pain.
One formula: Drink mud-water; treats Sha pain.
One formula: Stir white sugar into plum juice and drink; treats Sha pain.
One formula: Grind Asarum Root (Xixin) into powder, mix with Amomum decoction, and take cold; treats Sha pain.
One formula: Grind Mulberry Silkworm Feces (Wancansha) into powder, mix with plain boiled water, and take cold; treats Sha pain.
The above five formulas treat Sha syndrome without food stagnation or obstruction.
One formula: Mix Alum (Mingfan, 4 fen) with a bowl of plain boiled water, take cold; treats Sha pain.
One formula: Mix a pinch of Salt (Yan, 1 cuo) with a bowl of plain boiled water, take cold; treats Sha pain.
The above two formulas are intended to induce vomiting to expel new food blocking Sha toxins. Large amounts of water must be consumed to induce vomiting; small amounts will be ineffective.
Juesha Fang (Sha-Extirpating Formula): For individuals who suffer from Sha syndrome repeatedly. It should only be taken after the Sha syndrome has fully recovered, to eradicate the root cause. Otherwise, if any Sha pathogenic factor remains, it must absolutely not be taken, as sweet herbs may cause distension and hot herbs may aid the evil, causing harm instead.
Licorice Root (Gancao), Alum (Mingfan), Salt (Yan) (each 1 liang), Aconite Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Chuanwu, 1 qian), Dried Ginger (Ganjiang, 3 qian).
Grind into fine powder, mix with rice paste to form pills. Take 5 fen per dose, wash down with warm plain water. For newly contracted Sha, one or two doses suffice for recovery; for chronic recurrent Sha, ten doses ensure complete recovery and prevent recurrence. Licorice is used to support Stomach Qi, Dried Ginger and Prepared Aconite Root to replenish Stomach Yang, Alum to detoxify, and Salt to sever Sha. This is indeed an excellent formula, but since Aconite and Ginger are warm in nature, they may not suit everyone. Therefore, the dose is limited to 5 fen per administration, solely to eradicate the Sha root. If the patient’s constitution is deficient and cold, the dose must be doubled to be effective.
