Commentary: The formula is named "Yi Sun" (Benefiting Loss) because the various herbs aim to benefit the human body's losses. The therapeutic intent is as follows: Huangqi tonifies deficiency and benefits loss, nourishes Qi, generates essence, strengthens the Spleen, and moistens; Renshen tonifies labor-induced injuries and deficiency, benefits Qi, and generates Yin; Shihu treats wasting-thirst syndrome due to deficiency-labor of the Five Zang Organs, promotes muscle growth, strengthens sinews and bones, eliminates phlegm, and secures the Yuan Yang (Primordial Yang) in men; Baizhu generates fluids, stops thirst, benefits the Stomach, and tonifies the Liver; Danggui tonifies Blood, removes old blood, and generates new blood; Fuling unblocks orifices, expels dampness, benefits Qi, harmonizes the Middle Jiao, and addresses the root of dampness; Baishao disperses evil pathogens and drives out stasis, soothes the Liver to assist the Spleen; Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) treats hematemesis, epistaxis, and other bleeding disorders, serving as the Qi herb within the Blood category; Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) tonifies Blood, fills essence, benefits the Kidney, and tonifies True Yin; Shanyao tonifies the Liver and benefits the Kidney; Mudanpi is a substance that harmonizes, generates, and cools Blood; Maimendong stops exogenous heat from deficiency-labor, relieves mental restlessness and dry thirst, and is a key herb for nourishing the source of transformation; Wuweizi nourishes Water to clear heat and treats various blood disorders; Gancao drains fire-heat and tonifies Spleen Qi. Although this formula treats many symptoms, its ingredients are numerous and potent, representing a combination of attacking pathogens and supporting healthy Qi. Originally, Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex) and Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) were included, but I have removed them.
